A friend of mine had asked me to recommend him an Edc folder. I know of some knives I would recommend, but I have my own biases of what I like. I figured i'd ask you folks to broaden my search. So, can you recommend a folder with a pocket clip and he prefers metal handle material. Try to keep it under 200 bucks. Thanks.

Zero Tolerance. They make a lot of good knives. The 551 is just above your price range (230 is the lowest I saw it) but it one of the best production folders on the market. Fit and finish are great and it is a frame lock which for me is a big plus. Hope that I could help!

If you get a 0551 from a dealer that has some in-stock it'll be $200, but it seems all are sold out. So yeah $230 for a new one from a third party.

The aluminum-handled version of the Hogue EX-01 would be worth a look. It comes two sizes, one with a 3.5" blade and another with a 4" blade. The Spyderco Military Titanium can also be had for right around $200 if you look around a bit.

I've had my eye on the LE Benchmade 520 in M4 steel. I'm not sure on current avaliblity, but the Buck Mayo TNT (172) is a beauty and a great choice for something less aggressive looking. -Both of these knives are pure metal with the exception of the 520 backspacer.

Spyderco paramilitary 2

So good he won't miss the metal handle one bit.

The ZT 0550 is the same as the 0551 except for the steel and grip pattern, and will be within your price range when it becomes available. The Benchmade 943 is also a great option (GPknives is one of the cheapest for Benchmades). You could also look at the Spyderco Military Titanium or Police or Sage 2, the Bradley Alias, Benchmade Subrosa, and Böker Escrima.

You gotta go for a 940 or 943. I have a 940 and it hasn't left my side, every day, for over a year.

We know the price range, what about the size and weight? There are tons of excellent choices in the $0-$200 range

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'll just email this thead to my friend and let him decide.
