After serving many years as an EDC, I'm looking for a replacement for my REKAT Sifu. As these knives are no longer made, what is out there that is comparable?

I'm looking for a folding, locking knife with a 5-5.49" blade (Texas law says blade must be <5.5 inches), no serrations, one handed opening with either hand, decent construction, and preferably NOT a liner lock, nor a tanto style blade profile (don't like either)

There are a ton of decent, small (<4.5" blade) knives, but for big stuff the closest seems to be a 5" Cold Steel Voyager with the non-serrated clip point blade.......kind of a disappointment as this is what I upgraded from when I got the Sifu many years ago.

I love my Cuda Maxx.
5.5 inch blade, frame lock titanium handle.
Flat,carry's well.
D2 Steel.
Don't make them anymore but you can find anything on the net.

Cold Steel has a couple new models that look promising.
I'd like to get an Espada or Rajah.

Benchmade rukus 610. Built like a tank s30v blade . Blade length 4.25" . A little short on the blade length. But very well made.

Theres a mangum Pat Crawford Leopard cub for sale "over there" it is a titanium handle and is 11 inches overall with 5.5 inch blade.

Pat didn't make many this size so its probably going to be expensive.

Good luck

The Ontario Retribution, a Jerry Hossom design, would bear a look at. Even though the blade is "only" 4 5/8ths inches in length, this is a MASSIVE folder. It is a liner lock , but the liners are .125" thick! Thats thicker than a lot of knife blades!

If you have the opportunity to handle one, take a look at the BM Skirmish. I know that the blade is just 4.3", but due to the recurve it has some additional cutting edge to work with. It's also really solid and should fill any hand nicely. It does meet your other criteria with its frame lock and opening hole. Truly a high-quality knife.

I second that.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll look into the Lone Wolf Harsey and Ontario Retribution. The Cuda and other 5.5"+ recommendations are too large---5.5" and up is illegal for carry in Texas :(

Like benchmades, (own a few) but they're a little small for what I'm looking for. Own a 710 which is positively dwarfed by the REKAT.

Take a look at the Benchmade LFK. That seems to be a big folder. GOOD LUCK! Kevin It is a liner lock though.

You know, the CUDA Maxx has a 5.5" blade, but you could easily shorten it .1" just by sanding the false edge top meet the tip a little lower - it would change the tip profile very little, and become legal.

With the proliferation of knives that we've had in the last 10 years, there still isn't much to choose from in the 5" folder category. It seems surprising that neither Benchmade, Spyderco, or Kershaw offer one (to my knowledge). If they did, I think it not be a big seller, but would be a steady seller to people like Tony.

Send me your email address and Ill send you just about what your looking for
