I checked the Bechmade Nimravus Cub, and read negative reviews about it (just a couple) and trying to get it in G-10, 154CM steel and plain edge was nearly impossible and the price again was through the roof. My Benchmades never come really sharp out of the box either.

Where's the cheapest place to buy an IZULA kit, if anyone knows? I see them on eBay, but it's my experience that I find knives cheaper at oniine vendors than eBay sells them for.

Maybe in 2010 I'll add a couple of the knives mentioned above but the bank for knife spending is about broken and Christmas shopping starts Monday.

Totally agree, Christmas and knife buying especially if you have a family is tough.

I'm getting the IZULA I ordered tomorrow and I have a question:

Will the Ka-Bar TDI Clip fit the RAT IZULA sheath or does RAT have, or recommend a large or small Tek-Lok for it?

CONGRATS on the Izula. I've carried one on my belt just about every day for the past 9 months or so. I like it on the molle lock that you will get in your kit. Its perfect for me.

The TDI clip wil NOT fit the izula sheath. It'd be awesome if it would though. I've heard Tek locks work amazingly. I think the small lok will work but you might head over to the RAT sub forum and ask the others.

I'm heading there right now. I didn't think the Molle (don't even know what that means) would work for waistband carry. I'll be playing with it soon.

I'm more excited about this little knife than a lot of my pricey folders. I really want a waistband or belt carry, fixed blade and this one is supposed to be real "gear!"

I would suggest a Boker Magnum Underdog. :) affordable, dependable, and if you lose it you can always replace it. allows belt carry and secured thigh carry.

A true toothpick of a pig-sticker and cheap too! I have some much nicer long, fixed blade fighters though if I was going to pack something that long.

I appreciate your post! I just got my RAT Izula and it's mucho cool. It's barely - but - shaving sharp. I'm going to spend this weekend reprofiling the blade on a mouse pad with a few grits of sandpaper, then strop it until it's hair popping sharp, wrap the handle then figure out ways to carry it.

I wish I could have found the non-coated one, because the coating really softens the otherwise deep jimping.

Oh well after the holidays settle down and everypne's inventory is in order again, maybe I'll find a non-coated Izula.

I really have my eye on that Spyderco Streetbeat & a Devil's Elbow. 2010 will be a small fixed blade year. Maybe one more Benchmade and another 11" Frank Beltrame Swing Guard.

Why not check out mykulmorris here. He makes some fantastic fixed blades and they won't cost you an arm and or leg.
 
I'h definitely getting the urban pal or a SafeMaker/SafeKeeper. They're a steal. I wanted a Defender with the leather sheath and they're dicontinued.

One member had one and I passed on it. I can't recall who he was though?

I'll do a member search on mykulmorris and see if his profile has a webpage or something.
