Recommend an pocket knife for EDC

Maybe something like the Boker Kwaiken?

I can't post an image without a lot of trouble because the interwebz is being really assy about DRM. But a search for "Kwaiken" in your advertising/search platform of choice should get you close.

The general design pattern of the kwaiken is a very narrow knife, without a pronounced guard or flipper tab. Some of them (most of them?) ride on bearings, so that may be a deal breaker. Steel choice, overall cost, and many other variables are up to you to decide. But it sounds like something the OP would be interested in.

The first thing that pops into my mind is try to get used to wider knives. I really like a svelte carry as well, and it is a major reason why Chris Reeve folders are among my favorite. But your criteria cancels out some fantastic knives such as the RHK XM-18 and Spyderco Paramilitary 2. That said, the first slim knife that pops into my head is the BM 940 in whatever flavor floats your boat. Also consider a Small Sebenza 21.

I would suggest you take a look at the Steel Will Mini Cutjack in M390 and G2. Love this flipper (why I recommend it often). It's a liner lock and is about 4" closed. The larger Cutjack is "just larger" if you want that. The Mini Cutjack for me is the perfect EDC size or as I often say... Delica sized. Function is smooth and you can open it slowly or very quickly as the situation merits. The Spydie Native 5 is cut from the same cloth in terms of size.

Yes that is a very good point and I have looked at pants but for slacks it isn't as bad but when I wear blue jeans it is when it is the hardest to get in and out. Which goes to my next point, as to why don't they make most jean pockets a bit wider?

EDIT: Also if I just buy new pants, that would negate me looking for another knife to buy.

I also do like the bugout but I'm not a fan of the flexible handle, but I see one could always upgrade it.
It's already been mentioned, but if you are thinking about the Bugout and before shelling out more coin for custom scales, take a look at the 531 Pardue. It's like a beefed up 535 Bugout.

Heh. Talk to the Medford guys: some knives will take up your pocket, no matter what.

I’d say go for the 0450, but if you want a deep-carry Clip and tip down carry I
would get the ZT 0566, you can get em in 3 different version and it’s similar to the 0450 in size. The CF Kershaw leek isn’t bad either, that version comes with a cpm154 blade. I’ve always had good luck with KAI products
Btw you can take the leek and 566 apart fairly easy, but the 450 is much easier since you don’t have a tension bar to worry about

The BM 940 is on PB washers. You can clean an Axis lock knife with soap & running water. The only thing that might be worrisome would be breaking an omega spring. Although that's not the end of the world as some BM haters will have you believe. It has 2 springs and if one does break it still works. It just feels wrong. Send it to BM and they fix it for free, along with a cleaning & sharpening if you so desire. Takes about 2-3 weeks. It happened once with my 940 and I carried my Paramilitary 2 while it was away. Made me realize I hated carrying the PM2 for basically the same reasons you don't want one. So I sold it after I got my 940 back.

Try Ariat jeans. Also, this would open up more possibilities for knives for you, leading to many more purchases...if that’s what you’re looking for.

I love my 940 and carry it the most and got it back after losing it at a barn I was hauling to. But IMO if you aren't worried about losing it I say 940 if you are worried and want something you won't mind if you lose the Coast Rapid Response RX311 with the 3-in blade has been a handy little thing. I carried one for two years and aside from it needing a weekly swabbing and oiling to keep everything one handed I was happy with it. As well coast sent me a new one and told me to keep the old one when the screw holding the pocket clip cover for the other side fell out.

Though I saw some people talk about Auto's Only auto I have is a Piranha P1 which is nice about $112 for the one I got. But I wore the spring out in about a year but handy knife if the handle wasn't completely smooth.

Spyderco chaparral if you like the native but want something smaller.

Kizer's begleiter may be close, can't remember if that had tip down option. I consider it to carry similar to the BM 940 but a lot cheaper.

Kershaw leek may be perfect, it carries well tip down.

Sog mini aegis may be of interest but I haven't had that in a while. I remember it carrying incredibly well I just didn't like the action.

I'll second the Kershaw Leek, and it comes in many different flavors, black to rainbow.

I'll second that Kershaw Leek. It comes in a variety of colors from black to rainbow. The Kershaw Russian Nura 3.5 is another. Steel is okay and it has a nice locking mechanism.

+1 For the Leek. BladeHQ still has the carbon fiber cpm 154 steel model, or two dozen different handles in 14C28N.
