Recommend me a fishing knife

I've been looking around for someone selling my favorite fishing tool. Haven't found it. But the Rapala fisherman's Multi-tool RFMT looks promising. Small scissors deploy with a thumb push. Hook eye cleaner, too, that slides out. Might be the trick.

Leatherman Micra.

Yeah yeah yeah it doesn't open one handed, but man do the spring loaded scissors come in handy.

You also have a couple little screwdrivers to tighten the handle on your reel, and the blade is the perfect size for getting rats nests out of the line. But best of all, since we know that fishing flat out requires craft beer, it has a great cap lifter.

It also happens to fit into that smallest pocket on the front of your fishing vest... you know the one... that doesn't fit anything more than a bic lighter and a couple of split shot weights. Yep, it drops right in.

Very affordable, durable, reliable, versatile, and comes with an unbelievable warranty.

I see that Mora is now making a floating fishing knife. That’s interesting (and inexpensive) but I’m not sure if he would be able to find one and I’m not certain how internet savvy he is. Maybe he can ask my wife to order it for me.

Case trapperlock makes a nice folding bird & trout knife, and has a few basic options under $100

And the smaller Case Russlock are almost all under $100, with a slew of options available in that <$50-75 range, so he can still have fun picking one out specifically for you.

And their TruSharp (420hc) does have pretty great stainless properties.

If you would be interested in a large well made slippie, the GEC Allegheny model is still available at GEC dealers.

I'm bumping this for a couple of reasons. For one, the OP never told us what he found under the tree. Second, I found, by accident, that Rough Rider is making a folding fishing knife. The main blade is long and thin. The other blade has a scaler, a hook remover and a bottle opener. A quick internet search found three colors: black bone with copper bolsters, red jigged bone and brown. I'm thinking the 440(A?) oughta resist rust pretty well. And they are cheap enough to leave in a vest pocket or tackle box. The brown one has the logo of a defunct club, and can be found for about ten bucks.

(Case has a similar one in yellow. I'm not sure if this is a rip on the Case design or a traditional pattern that's been around for decades.)

I'll also recommend the Salt series from Spyderco. I have the saver salt and the salt tasman. I don't do much fishing but I do a lot of kayaking and water tubing. when I'm kayaking my saver usually rides in my pocket and the tasman rides in a waterproof case.
