Recommend me a Sodbuster knife!

I just got a Case Sodbuster Jr. in CV recently. It's my first sodbuster and I love it. It's appealing to me more and more. Very elegant and comfortable knife. Perfect EDC. I also really like the pale yellow colour. I think Queen would be really nice too but I don't have experience with it. I've also had a kissing Crane Brown mule which was also nice but it's a much bigger knife and the blade is over 3". In short, I highly recommend the case Sodbuster Jr. in CV.

I should add, I'd like to get one that I can carry around with me in public, so the blades cutting edge will need to fall short of 75mm (3")! I wouldn't like to buy such a lovely pocket knife that I couldn't legally use everyday.

The GEC Bull Nose is just under 3" from tip to tang. So you're OK there.

I don't have any experience with the Queen Country Cousin, but I do have a Case CV mini sodbuster, and the difference between it and the GEC is night and day. I'm pretty sure I got a lemon Case though. Incurable blade wobble, and the pin that goes though the spring in the middle somehow rotated itself around so it was partially sticking out since the rounded part didn't match the rounded handle.

The GEC however has no blade wobble, and it has a half-stop, which gives it a further level of refinement. The steel is much better, and the handles are contoured much nicer. Usually, spending twice the money doesn't give you twice the knife, but IMO, in this comparison, it does.

GEC does make a few select knives in 440C stainless, but they're mostly made in carbon steel. The Farm and Field line uses O-1 tool steel, but the rest use 1095.

If you can find them in the US, you should try Hubertus, Solingen or Otter Solingen. Each of them has wooden handles and use a great carbon steel.

I´m pretty sure, the Otter is not available. But the Hubertus should be sold somewhere.

My Queen is a definate keeper the D2 is just what you need in an EDC user, got new scales on it though as I'm much more a fan of wood

if I were to go for carbon I'd get a GEC though

Here they said all but I still have something to tell you ----------do not buy an Eye-brand Sobuster ,no matter how curious you are about "forged blades" .

Also check out Robert Herder hippekniep. They grind their knives in the traditional way, very, very thin! Hippekniep is the German word for the partern that Case calls a Sodbuster.

I really wanted the gec bullnose in orange or nite brite glow, but the only person who has them has the black models.. and no idea when he can aquire more!

does anyone here have one in box they'd like to part with? :)

I picked up a 1986 Case Sodbuster in CV at a church rummage sale for only $19. Cleaned up a few pitted spots and I absolutely love it
