Recommend me a traditional folder similar to the case peanut

So here's the thing!

I absolutely love the case peanut's clip point blade. What I love about it is the thin blade, the fact it's a carbon steel (albeit something better than Case's CV would be cool), and the shape of the blade. What I don't like is the size of it and quality.

I'm looking for something just a touch larger, either 1 or 2 blades and higher quality... Like GEC quality, I have some of their knives and they are fantastic.

Any recommendations on a specific GEC pattern, or any other brand?
I'm considering a #66 calf roper even though it has the 3 blades.

Cheers

GEC 33 Conductor or Conductor whittler. If you can find one...

Older USA made 33OT (jack) or 34OT (stockman).

Sticking with Case...

6232 small Texas Jack, 6244 serpentine jack, or 87 small jack from early '70's or before.

Here's a crummy pic that shows the size of most of these.

The green on the left is a Case 6344 - the 6244 will be the same size, but a jack with the clip and pen blades opening on top.
The rusty hunkojunk with brass bolsters is a Schrade 36OT - the 33OT will be a jack.
The red beauty is a 1965-1969 6332 stockman - the 6232 Texas Jack is the same frame in a jack configuration. Newer 62032 Texas Jacks are a hair shorter.
The ebony whittler is the GEC 33 Conductor. No, it's not for sale.
On the right is the Case Peanut.
Sorry, I don't have a Case 87 pattern knife.

IMO, the real winners will be the 6232 Texas Jack or the Conductor (no, I already told you it's not for sale, quit asking!). The Conductor's clip blade is beautifully profiled, and perfectly tapered from tang to tip, giving it a stable, solid base and a needle sharp tip. The 6232 Texas Jack before some time in the later '70's had half-stops (I forget exactly when), so if you like that on your peanut, you'll have the half-stops on the Texas Jack if it's old enough. I don't know if the 44 pattern had half-stops or not, or the 87 pattern. Someone else might be able to chime in with that info.

The #56 is very similar in shape to the peanut, and many are still available. They do have a spear main, but could always be reground to a clip.

Oh my goodness. I think I need a GEC 33 in my life, it looks exactly like what I want. Is yours for sale? XD

But honestly, I may have to do some shopping for one... You have some other great suggestions there as well. Thank you very much!

I seen these... The spear point is what is holding me back. I hate the thought of having to get something modified like that though.

I suppose it would be unique. Thanks.

Keep the suggestions coming guys :)

I did the clip mod on my 56, was easy and worked out great. If you can live with a spear, the GEC Beagle might be of interest, I’ve got the Coyote and it’s nice but small for me. GEC 14 might be what you're after, either by modding the spear or waiting for them to do a run with clip point, I read in another thread that this was coming soon...

Very solid choices posted. I’d go with GEC’s #14 two blade. If you can find one, GEC made a peanut that is the #18 pattern.

IMO, the #18 is a huge improvement over any Case Peanut.

Here are a few options around the 3" closed mark

Buck 309 - either the Buck or Camillus versions

GEC 14

Buck SOLO (Chinese made)

Ulster peanut (Schrade made)

This shot has the same as abouve with a few oldtimers thrown in

They make a few options inc.

108OT stockman
18OT single blade liner lock
12OT Pal - single blade peanut-ish
72OT peanut
104OT pen knife

One of my favorite knives is the "gent's trapper" by Jim Dunlap. It's not cheap, but it's an extremely good value for a custom. 3 3/8" closed, CPM-154 blade, linerless carbon fiber handles. They're made in a variety of colors (this is silver lightning strike), depending on where you can find one. Very lightweight, thin, and inconspicuous in the pocket. I don't have a scale, but it feels like it weighs less than my peanut.

Hands down you want a #55/56. I was in the same predicament. I carried a peanut as my only blade for almost a decade. In that time I never loved the size or blocky shape while in hand, but it stayed in my pocket because of its folded size and weight. Fast forward to last month when I found the perfect replacement for me in the form of the single blade #56. This frame fills the hand in a way the peanut can't (wider and flatter feeling), and has just enough extra blade to make a difference. All of this while being the same thickness and close to the same weight.

I'll mention a couple more Case patterns just FWIW, although it sounds as if you aren't interested in going with that brand: The "33" frame (2 5/8" with square bolsters; cf. the peanut at 2 7/8") comes in two patterns, a 6333 small stockman and a 5233/6233 pen. Picking up on Planterz Planterz 's comments, the 6344 (3 1/4") is an excellent small pattern (IMHO -- mine is in my pocket right now) and does not have half stops. I definitely wouldn't mind finding a 6244. The "32" and "032" are a bit larger (3 5/8") but a very comfortable size (the 032 is very slightly slimmer, I believe).

Boker (Solingen) makes some nice penknives and small jacks. Price and quality somewhere between Case and GEC, in my opinion.

Certainly the GEC 33 Conductor comes to my mind.

Why? Lot of Clip blade in a small frame, slimmer than a Peanut but good bit longer. High quality finish and some can be found with 440c a clear move up from CASE steels. Hard to find I admit though.

Why not try a Rough Rider Mini Copperhead with Clip master? Some people might instinctively look down on these but they would be seriously misguided, I think their stainless to be superior to CASE's surgical steel and F&F on a par.
