Recommend me a vendor for purchasing a BK16

I hope you didn't take that as me trying to be on your case, and you probably weren't necessarily deal spotting, BUT, in order to respond to your thread, WE would have had to deal spot, if we had mentioned anyone not a BF supporter. Fortunately for all involved, Tomars is a supporter, and also has superb pricing. There are a few others out there available to those with good googlefu, but Tomars is hard to beat.

Since I haven't ordered yet from Tomars and they have a good rep, that is where I would go looking for a Kabar Becker. So far, my Beckers have been all purchased from non BF vendors.

Pretty much every knife I have purchased in the last couple years have been from Dale at The Knife Connection. I haven't been able to find a place yet that could top his prices or his shipping.

I picked up some micarta scales from Tomar's, and noticed the packaging really smelled like cigarette smoke. The scales didn't stink, but the plastic bags did. Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

Also looking at some G10 scales from TKC, so I'm probably going to spread the business around.

Recommendations like Tomar's and The Knife Connection were exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks guys. BTW, is TKC a BF paid vendor?

I just ordered a BK9 from AMAZON and the price was right at 75 bucks free shipping!!!!!!
I have been waiting months to get my BK9 I cant wait to hold her.
enjoy your new treasure, may you use it in good health.

I have ordered from a few places mentioned here, my first BK, a 2, was bought from "The pig" and I had no issues with it alothough it took maybe 10 days to get here, arg! Never again on that site. So, now I order where I feel I might get the best deal or the best rate on shipping. Tomars is really awesome, but the shipping is pricey and the knife took about a week to arrive. Having said that, I would still order from them again, their QC is outstanding.

The River Store has had some great deals on occasion and using River Store Prime (free shipping) is very very hard to beat. I have a few BKs that I bought and paid a slightly higher price, just to save on shipping and get a stoopid quick delivery (like 48 hours!!!)

The vendors here on Bladeforums are tried and true, you never have to be concerned about dealing with these folks - topnotch service, etc. Also they support our forum and our little family here. Rarely are their prices beaten either. :)

Would you strip it even before using it? Would it be easier to strip before or after getting some wear or just as easy either way?

Just as easy either way. The new coating is tougher than the old but peels off super easy with kleen strip. So no reason you cant try it out and then decide if you want to strip it. All of my smaller ones get stripped but usually I let the choppers wear off on their own.
