Recommend me an EDC please.

Aesthetics aside, one main concern I have is how well a blade will hold its edge. How easy it is to sharpen is not nearly as important to me as how long it will remain sharp.

If the edge retention is your primary concern, than you need to go with blade made from ZDP-189.
Spyderco Caly3, Stretch2, Calypso Jr., Jess Horn, Delica and Endura are available in this steel (but it is a pain to sharpen for most of the people).
Kershaw Leek and Mini Cyclone as well. All of these knives are limited runs and available in PE only, except Delica and Endura.
By the way these "triangle things" are replacement rods for Sharpmaker, which is very nice sharpening tool.
Good luck

Good choice, even though I've never handled one! Read lots about this knife with little bad being said. I think the newest models, CPMD2 have double nested liners, while some of the newer models have only the single liner. Could be wrong, are probably am, as I don't really know when Spyderco went with the double liners. Think NGK ships to Canada.

Well, I've decided to go with the Military.

Nice. Very nice. I don't own a Military (yet), but I have never yet been disappointed by a Spyderco knife, so I expect you'll be quite pleased with it.

Two questions -

1) Does Spyderco ship to Canada?
2) What is the difference between "Military SpyderEdge Black G-10" and "Military PlainEdge Black G-10"?

I honestly don't know if Spyderco ships to Canada or not, but there are a *lot* of retailers out there that will. Many of them will actually be less expensive than ordering direct from Spyderco, so I'd advise looking into them.

As for the difference between the the PlainEdge and SpyderEdge, as someone else mentioned, it's serrated vs. non-serrated. Spyerco calls their unique serration pattern "SpyderEdge".

Think NGK ships to Canada.

Yes, they have a lot of experience with Canada's customs. Tell them where it's going and ask them to tighten it up so it gets by canada's over exhuberant customs officers. They'll know what to do. The D2 military is a very nice knife. Keep the blade lightly oiled as D-2 is not stainless steel. It's a tool steel, and a good one. It will hold it's edge very well. Just don't pry, or use it like a screwdriver. It has a fine, very sharp tip and edge. Good luck. Joe
