Recommend me my first flipper.

CRKT Ripple with IKBS. I was amazed at how well it flipped for a $30 knife. It was on par with my 0777 and 0801 if not better.

Here are some manual flippers. My favorite of this lot is the Skyline.

Left to right: JYD II, Shenanigan, NRG, Large Vantage, Skyline, RAM, OD-1, Zing

must be lots of engineers on here with all the money flying around. :p

Yeah I'm definitely a modest collector. I have an old Kinfolks V-44 Survival knife worth around $400 bucks but I don't spend anywhere near what the folks here do. My swisschamp I bought for 80 something I'd call a big expense.

Not to mention the awesomeness of knife locking mechanisms, manufacturing tolerances, and materials in knives. Those things tend to attract mechanical minds :D

You an engineer flarp? We have one of those mats in our office print room

I'm not a licensed PE, but I do have an engineering degree and work in a related field. The mat itself is just a cutting mat (can pick them up at hobby and arts & crafts stores). I just thought the grid would be a handy background for side-by-side / comparison pics.

  1. Buck Vantage Force Pro

I agree with the Vantage Force Pro, my favorite of the knives I own but not under $50.

However, the Vantage Avid (Large) is pretty similar and at around $40. Sadnvik steel not bad in that price range either.

Lots of nice Kershaw assisted flippers. For unassisted the RAM is amazing but is getting very hard to find. The Junkyard Dog is a sweet flipper and fits inside your budget. I agree the CRKT ripple is also a good choice

I'm not even sure why people make assisted flippers. If the knife is designed correctly they open very easily and fast with a slight flick.

I like assisted myself better... its less to worry about if i really need it open right then.
