Recommend UNDER 3" Folder ...

try the benchmade 707 (or 705, if you can find it)...the g10 insert could be switched out for a nice wood if you are into mods
 
Gerber EZ-OUT JR. Plain or partial serrated. Very light, will take a beating. 2-1/4" blade. Just over 3" closed. Satin blade and clip. Made in USA.
 
Well, I know you are unimpressed with Spydies now, but... the best buy in a well made 2 5/8" pocket knife with upgrade steel (S30V), a strong lockback design, and a reversible clip is as near as your local WallyWorld - The Spydie Native @ $40. If you want a great 2.5" bladed lockback, less the clip, check out the Buck 503 Prince - also available there - at $25 - very handsome/functional pocket knife. Another great choice - but closer to your 3" limit - is the Kershaw 1660DAM - the Leek in Damascus steel - $70-$80 mail order - + s/h. All made in the USA, too (The Damascus is from Alabama!).

I didn't want to bump this thread since I already purchased 2 knives, but I got the SOG twitch 1 today and I love the size. Actually fits my hand just perfectly. I wore it in my gym shorts today and I didn't notice it at all while driving (stick shift, front of shorts). Love the blade... A perfect back up EDC

I also purchsed a Kershaw Centofante, in the dark maroon color ... which I believe is limited to 500 peices? I cant wait for this one, I am really excited to test out my first ever kershaw blade. I also love the blade design. with a 2.25 inch blade, I think this will be my "gents" style folder.
