Well I finally decided after so much searching and all your guys help, thank you
Maybe I will post pictures later but for not Just link to it.
I decided to forgo all the fancy bells and whistles such as tritium, a black band, ultra bulletproof durable etc.
I ended up liking a simple plain design that you see in many dive watches. What was important was a good easy to read face, the turning bezel/dial, GITD hands and hour markings, waterproof, and durable plus metal watch band.
The seiko did all of this plus solar. For $180 I figure it is not too much, especially if it lasts 3-4 times as long as a $50 freestyle watch. I am intending for this watch to last me 20 years.
So for my review, I will keep it short. It is a heavy watch, brushed metal look on the strap but on the side of the strap and the watch case it is polished so it is a nice two tone sort of look. I took it swimming to 8 feet or so and no leaking. I have to get used to reading a analog face and a metal band, but I do like how easy it is to take off a metal strap. I find myself removing it a lot when I am planning to get dirty like cooking.
The glow material is nice, very bright at the beginning and it is very readable even hours later. I realized that an analog watch is easier to read in the dark with just some lighting than a digital because of the contrast whereas with a digital you have to angle the watch back and forth to catch ambient light just the right way.
I am surprised how easy it is to scuff a metal strap. I guess it isn't hardened steel because I see real small abrasions on the band where it rubs against stuff, some of which I would think not very hard, such as a wood table, but oh well. After about two weeks it seems to keep good time but I haven't set and measured the second hand so maybe its too short to tell.
The first watch I ordered from Amazon was sold by some company called cashclock. Well that watch came scuffed up a little bit and two links missing. It looked like someone had either tried to buy a new watch and return their old watch deceptively or the company had sold me a used watch. I will ever know for sure. So I chanced it and ordered a second one, this one came with all the plastic on the band etc so I am sure it was new.
I got the Seiko SNE-107 Dive watch.
