Recommendation - folders on washers

So many great choices, thanks guys.
I must say, I had a 0550 and it was a little tank, but just to cumbersome for me. Ill have to keep up with reviews and check out those other ZT and spyderco ideas

+1 on the GB2 as @Justin Partridge said, mine is a favorite. It’s a liner lock though.

ZT 0566.

Frankly, I haven’t yet run into trouble with bearings. I get it when people are cutting into bags of sand or concrete, but I tend to think that needing washers really means that you need a fixed blade.

It's a big beefy folder but the Grayman Satu is on washers and it's the slickest folder I've ever had. You can hold the handle blade side down and give it a little flick and that big ol blade pops right open with a whack. It's one solid folder but kind of heavy and all Ti. Maybe it's smaller brother the Dua would be a better fit though.

I saw a video with a Russian knifemaker who steadfastly maintained washers are every bit as good as bearings in regard to flipping action. Surely they are cheaper and easier to replace.

Can’t recommend the Grayman knives family without also recommending the Three Sisters Forge Beast.

Yes the ZT 550 was abit of a brick. The ZT Emersons are not quite so chunky.

After playing with bearings and washers on my Hinderer knives I agree with this completely. Washers give 90% of the action of bearings but the best part is the blade doesn’t try to bite your finger when you close it!

I lusted for a Shiro for three years or so after discovering them online. Finally availability and pricing got better. I couldn't be happier. Now to find a fixed blade compliment. CultroTech makes one but it's more expensive than my flipper by a third. Crazy.
