I posted a thread not long ago here of my experience with the Eka Swede 10, which was a big disappointment for me.
So I'm still on the prowl for a new full size scandi folder. I'm trying to decide between TBS Boar, Helle Dokka or Enzo Borka. So far I'm leaning towards the Helle Dokka, I love the Helle triple laminated steel which I have in my Temagami, but was wondering if some of you guys have any experience or thoughts about these knives?

I don't have the Borka, I have the Birk 75. The Borka is available with N690Co steel. I have some knives made of this steel and I like it very much, they sharpen to a very fine edge.

The Birk 75 is really good knife, one of my favourites. I believe that the Borka would be a good choise.

I also have a Birk 75 in D2 with curly birch scales and just love it. I collect and use to craft Scandi style knives with Lauri blades (esp the PT). Also have a few Helle laminates (fixed blades). Properly sharpened (the Birk was razor sharp out of the box), I think all perform very well.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Do that Eka 9 also have that annoying secondary bevel, as the 10 have?

The Eka site claims scandinavian grind, but it is not a scandinavian grind if there is a secondary bevel!!

One thing is a tiny micro bevel to take any burr of the edge, but with a secondary bevel I would much rather have a full flat grind...

I have the Boar but not too impressed with it. The secondary grind is convex and it seems sort of cheap to me.

I have a couple of the Enzo Birks and I love them.

I think the Finn Wolf is the folder. One reviewer says the edge is actually hollow ground and too delicate for rough use.

That seems to have been a peculiarity of the first, small run that leaked out. I heard it from a couple of people (including our own Stabman, who I trust), but reviews since then seem to indicate it's now a true Scandi grind and the durability no longer seems like an issue.

I have a flat ground version of the Enzo Borka and think it's an excellent knife. My only gripe is the thumbstuds took a while to get used to.

Dang. So I need one again.

I had an older EKA Swede 8 as well, but replaced it with the 9 model.

The scandi grinds are different on these 2 models.

If you know the 8 or 10 models , then they have the older style grind.

I find that the grinds on them and the 9 are good for me.

I have kept them sharp with the Sharpmaker..
Hope this helps.

I can only speak with a modicum of knowledge regarding the Dokka and the Finnwolf. My Finnwolf is a love/hate relationship. It takes an incredible edge, but chips way too easily for my tastes. It is a full scandi grind that was purchased new a few months ago. I love the solid lock on it, the general design, and the concept, but my edge keeps chipping out with regular shop use. I still carry it daily. It's comfortable in the hand, carries well, and takes an insanelu keen edge, even with a micro bevel, but I spend a fair bit of time fixing it.

My Dokka on the other hand is one of my most loved knives ever. Even more insanely sharp than the Finnwolf, light, comfortable in hand, with class seething out it's very pores. Edge hold up great, without a micro bevel, and ir's one of my absolute favorites for simple day hikes and foraging.

This might be a bad thread for me to have stumbled into. I love my Scandi folders, and you're making some tempting suggestions. I had forgotten about the Enzo, now I need one again.

Thanks for the tips.
Spent several hours with sharpening stones and my big boi quad leather strop today. Now my Swede 10 has a PROPER scandi grind. Just finished it and tried it a cuple of minutes. Feels a lot better. I'm gong to polish it a bit better, but there is a problem area close to the handle. I have to think a little about it, I have limited tools and experience on stuff like this...
