Recommendation for a new Hunting folder

The Benchmade and Gayle Bradley are great choices. What about the ZT 0560BW in ELMAX? Built like a tank, made to abuse. Might be a bit larger, but fits the hand well and easy one-hand opening...

I heard rather bad things about elmax... much more likely to get a ZT in s110v, but it is far away from what i can afford.

Here you have a video about the elmax

So what i am searching now is for a s110v knife that would fit all those thigs (basically hunting + less than 300$) so i can compare m390, m4 and s110v
I found a ZT 0560 but it is 480 + taxes.

Any AFFORDABLE ideas?

There is a CPM S30V Native. In fact the current Native is not made in VG-10 any more. It pushes the price point up.

still, if i am able to get a superior steel like the ones mentioned before i'd go for that one.

But i ran out of ideas....

"Superior steel" is relative and the price increases are significant with the newer super steels. I hope you are happy with your choice. For hunting situations, D2 is all you need and it will hold an edge a long time once you have it sharp. Again, your money, your choice.....

I have been quite pleased with my ZT0770CF in Elmax, but I wouldn't recommend this knife for a "hunting" knife. There are pros anc cons to Elmax. I view the whole steel discussion as one of very slight increases in value with some fairly significant price differences relative to the more common older steels. I still like VG-10 and it holds and edge long enough for my needs. What can I say?

You are totaly right with what you say. Usually price increases dont match with the quality increases.
For example that extrema ratio that was over 400$...

But that is not what im saying. Im trying to find a knife with one of those better steels at an affordable price.

For example: what i was saying before with that manix 2 in s110v.

The cheapest manix i can find is 110 dollars without taxes and comes in cts bd1. So with taxes and shipping it will be around 150 dollars.
I do not care to pay 40 extra dollars for getting the super-steel version instead of the way cheaper cts bd1.

What i will not accept are changes over 150 dollars just for the steel, but for me, with a 40$ difference.. it is worth it!

Same with the gayle bradley. Choosing between a 150 manix 2 and a 199 gayle bradley...

I think that difference is worth the quality increase

Hi there again.

I just wanted to update a little bit on what i have been researching.

I found a spydy paramilitary 2 inn 204p and a native 5 in s110v. Both for 300 dollars.

I am also planning to get a lansky sharpening systyem so i can get the best results for such great knives.

In your opinion: which one is better/ would you buy, and why?

Thanks a lot
