Recommendation for an Emerson..........(can't believe I'm asking this)

Wait a little while and get one of the ZT Emerson models.

I would, but I hate tantos, and while I've never owned a chisel ground I know I'll hate that too. Sigh. According to your feedback, maybe eEmerson just isn't for me, even to try. I thought I could, but I just don't know if I can spend close to $200 on something I have a pretty good feeling like I'll dislike. Sigh again.

Since Emerson knives are hardened for toughness more than edge retention, you could honestly look at the Kershaw models. 8Cr doesn't perform as well as 154cm, but it performs pretty well at 1/3 or less the price.
