Recommendation for Groosmen wedding gift?

i've had 2 SAKs given to me, one is in my tool drawer, i might have used it once

the other i gave to a friend (it was a Wenger)

one of them was from a wedding :)

i like the Native, and i thought of that too, but i think it's a little to utilitarian or something... same with any black handled knives

i like the SS Cricket idea, it looks more elegant... something a non-knife person might actually carry too ;)

Congratulations! I was married recently, and I gave out small Himalayan Imports khukris (12"-14") as my gifts to groomsmen and the officiant. I managed to spend around $50-65 for each of them by slowly accumulating them through Deals of the Day sales.

I love 'em, but I think some of them thought I was giving them touristy crap. I had to explain that these were "real" carbon steel knives, meant to take abuse (kind of like a groom) and not just sit around as showpieces (like my lovely bride).

With a khuk in hand, my friends had a concrete thing to remember the wedding- not a SAK that they'd stick in a glove box and forget about (although an engraved SAK is a good idea, regardless).

I really like the cricket idea. Its a classly, quality little knife. If you don't like the look of it, you can also check out the SS dragonfly.

SAKs are something that anyone could get, but a cricket is something only informed people would know about. :D

I like the sak or cricket idea, but I'll toss these out there as well

BM Benchmite II
CRKT Rollock plain or engraved stainless scales
CRKT Van Hoy Snapfire
Xikar Explorer silver handle

lol...Hey Slatts, I see your point. Didn't you know there are plenty of idiots buying Spydies and BMs? Even defensive ones who can't comprehend the obvious.;)

Engraved Alox or Cricket sounds good, you could also get flashlights, check out the Fenix P1 or Arc AAA-P

I don't think you could go wrong with a SAK. You could get a very nice, and classy, alox model for that money.

I'd suggest the Soldier or Farmer. Farmer is essentially the same as the Soldier, but includes a very handy (and sharp) woodsaw.

Andy

I got SAK farmers for my groomsmen and had thier initials engraved on the side. It makes it a bit more personal. ..Jim
