Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a knife for me to give to my groomsmen and best man.

I really like the benchmade big spender: a nice sleek folder with, very elegant. but i'm looking for something: slightly bigger, slightly strong construction, and a blade with serrations at the base to make it a bit more useful would be great too.

Are there any sleek/unique folders that you guys might have in mind? I like benchmade products but I'm not stuck with them. I also would like to keep the price under $150.

Thanks in advance!

You're a bigger spender than I was! Then again, I was 19 when I got married, and I spent pretty much every penny I had on the wedding haha.

I got all my groomsmen/best man a Buck Muskrat. Only ~$22 a piece, but I had to buy 5 of them lol. Ironically, my best man lost his right after I gave it to him, but my brother-in-law who was a groomsman still has his.

So how much are you willing to spend on each person? Is that $150 total or per person? How many people?

Yes to me as well for some unexplainable reason I think that a plain blade is better suited as a wedding-related gift.

For example, even non-knife people will drool over the very nice, very good quality Mcusta folders. And most are within your budget!
For example this one or this one ...

I agree with George, in that I would recommend a plain edge blade. I would recommend a MooreMaker stockman 3 7/8", model 5301. These knives come smooth or jigged bone handles. I believe you can have the Moore's engrave the knife for you, commemorating the event.

ok thanks guys, lots to look at here.

my max is $150 per knife. if i can make it at or below $100, even better.

ok, i'll agree that a straight edge knife does suit the occasion better.

those spyderco kopa knives are beautiful but a bit out of my price range. i do like the modern look though. one day i will have to splurge on one for myself, i think (but long after the wedding.. :) )

i'll keep looking at all those knives you've recommended, thanks again.

All good choices, but I would go with a plain edge if it were me. Those Mcustas are really nice.

For that price I'd go for a Benchmade Dejavoo.

$100 - check
Benchmade - check
Classy - check (well I think so!)

Plus s30v and G10 are great stuff!

The Mcustas are compact and elegant enough to be liked and carried by Non-Knife-People, while you can't say that about the Tyrade G10, good though it is.

One other alternative: the new Spyderco Terzuola is a very new high tech non-locking balljoint folder. elegant yet it should be sturdy. I don't have it yet, but I will buy one eventually:

an SS Delica or Endura with personalised engraving, that's indeed quite a good idea.

The new Spyderco Terzuola would be my vote...very elegant and within your price range. I really want one.

Everyone knows you never give a knife as a gift at a wedding, it symbolizes the cutting of the ties of marriage. In a lot of circles it's considered bad luck and might be seen as offensive. Just something to consider.

A very kind friend of mine - tall blonde German lady - gave me a great knife for a gift. She asked for a penny - in other words - she "sold" it to me.

In Europe, a knife as a gift would likely not be appropriate.

As just said - giving a knife as a gift is considered a "cutting" of the relationship and bad luck.

I am still open to any gift offers in exchange for a penny.

For my wedding I bought all the groomsmen and the best man a stainless Spyderco Delica. I even went to Things Remembered in the mall and had their initials engraved on them. I got one for myself too. I think the total was about $65.00 each.

thank payette and lxhunter, never knew it was a faux pas.

good thing me and my friends aren't superstitious, so i'll still be giving out knives.

thanks for the input to everyone.
