I want a hunting knife but im not very informed on brands and stuff so here are my criteria. Blade between 2 -7/8 and 4, usa made, wood or stag handle, drop point, some kind of finnger choil on the index finger, south of 100 dollars..i really like the lone wolf mountainside drop point but question the quality simce its been bought by benchmade.

4" is a skinner. It takes 6" to heart stab a boar. South of US$200 ok?

If you want a project knife try Ontario's Old Hickory line of knives. Good old carbon steel (1095 i believe) USA made, wood handles. You can dremel your own finger choil and make your own sheath whether its kydex or leather, even duck tape and cardboard lol.

It doesn't hit all of your criteria but I think it's pretty close and would be a value hunting knife...

Ka-Bar 5602 Johnson Adventure Gamestalker

Take a look at the Buck Vanguard, it has everything you want except the choil. Nice knife, I've had a few through the years. I've recommended it so many times I should get a royalty or something... OK not really, but it is a good starting point for anyone looking for a decent hunter. Beware the auction site though, there are A LOT of fake Bucks listed there these days for some reason!

The Svord's are great knives for the money. Their L6 blades, are superb, as are their convex grinds. I'm a big fan. Still another good choice, would be the Buck 103, in Rosewood. A very good profile, for skinning/field dressing.

Make that three for the Vanguard. I love mine. Have processed goats, pigs and rabbits with it and it barely misses a beat. A couple of swipes on the sharpening stone as needed and away she goes again. Get the rubberised handle for superb grip, and as Blue Sky said, buy from a reputable dealer as there are a zillion fakes on the auction sites.

My favorite doesn't have wood or stag handles and it isn't made in the USA. It's the Spyderco Moran drop point. Take a look at some of the Queen fixed blades, but you will probably have to do some sharpening to get it where you like it.

Thank yall ill definitely take a look at all those. Any expierence with a helle fjellbekk

Also not USA made but Muela makes several fine knives under $100. My go to hunting knife is a Muela. As for the Helle, I've handled seceral of their blades but not the specific one you asked about. I would not hesitate to buy a Helle, fine quality.

Nothing wrong with lone wolf since being bought out. I have the mountainside dp, ka bar Johnson adventure, and a the cheap kershaw field knife plus many more all under hundred dollars. The LW DP is by far my favorite. Only thing is it goes dull fast but takes an edge quick. Don't count out kershaw field knife because it is inexpensive it is one of the most natural feeling camping knives I have used. I own four of them.
I don't know if it is still in production but the cold steel Pendleton hunter with zytel handles was a great knife that would meet most of your criteria.
Good luck with your hunt

Here are a few affordable options

Benchmade Sibert Bushcraft ( Not stag or wood but a great knife )
Magnum Boker Stag Back Country
Boker Arbolito Stag ( There are several models, made in Argentina, 440c with either wood or stag )
Browning BR525 Stag

I love the look of boker arbolito. Is the kershaw field knife the same as a fixed skyline bc i have the folder. Muela looks interesting.

If you get the vanguard in s30v go that way, but between the lw dp in N680 or vanguard in the 420hc it depend on if spot rusting is an issue for you. Both N680 and 420hc take a great edge, sharpen fairly easy and are plenty durable. The N680 is much more rust resistant. And I like the sheath on Lone wolf much better.

And yes the kershaw field knife is the fixed blade version of the packrat.

Rust is a big thing for me down in louisiana so n680 would better fit my needs. Sorry for all the questions but how corrosion resistant is helles laminated steel
