Recommendation > Medium sized fixed blade with big handles

Damn! Beat me to it!

Strange, isn't it? Seems as if when questions like this arise, it takes forever for people to weigh in on SR101 (aka Busse heat-treated 52100) knives. And yet if I had to bet my life on a knife, knives constructed of SR101 are absolutely positively my first choice. I've got three BoBs . . . one in the house, one in my car and one in my wife's car. A Camp Tramp has lived in my home BoB since I bought it over 10 years ago and I've got RatManDus in each of the vehicle BoBs. They are the last knives I would ever part with.

When the going gets tough, the tough choose Busse!

IF you want an ESEE, look at the LaserStrike, it isn't that much longer than the 4 in the blade, and the handle is just long enough to be perfect. It also comes with a great kydex sheath.

That would be my recommendation as well. Great knife, despite the somewhat cheesy name. The handle is also less "blocky" than on the other ESEE models.

Amen brother! You are preaching to the choir here my friend!

It may take us a while to get around to recommending the power of the Rat (or the Dog, or the Hog), but we seem to always get the job done. Good on ya for stocking your BOBs with excellent blades. If "S" hits "F", it's great to be able to depend on your gear.

I've had tons of Busse knives, and kin. I have yet to encounter one that impressed me as much as the Ratmandu. It is just sublime. All you have to do is grip one once, and WOW! That moment of clarity hits you. It's one of those knives that FOR ME said - I am NEVER letting this one go. When I grabbed it, it grabbed me back, so to speak.
