Recommendation needed.

I've managed to scrape together enough to buy the A.G. Russell whittler that i gave a link to yesterday. So hopefully, i'll have it in my hands within the next two weeks. I'll post back in this thread with my impressions of it then.
Thanks everyone, for your suggestions and comments!

Hello again everyone.
I just received the Whittler today, and boy is it sweet. It's small, as i expected, but the fit and finish is just superb. I must say though, that the edges were nothing to be impressed about, but then, i don't expect there are many people willing to pay this much for a small user. But after a short time with my diamond stones, and some polishing on a very fine ceramic stone, it cuts wood like butter. My first impression on the BG-42 steel, is quite good. This is definately a keeper. :)

Glad to hear you like it, aarya. I was pretty sure you'd like BG-42. It's an excellent stainless with a nice fine grain structure.

Enjoy your new whittler. :cool::thumbup:

Oh, i will.. I already do.. Now, does anyone know of a good housekeeping service, so that i don't have to take time out of my whittling, to clean the floors? Or maybe i should whittle outdoors? Hmmmm.. :D

I whittle on the deck or porch so I can let the shavings fall or be swept between the wood slats. ;)

Lee Valley (http://www.leevalley.com/home/Search.aspx?c=&action=n) has a nice carver's apron in leather (and one in cloth I believe) that will allow the shavings to fall in your lap and be trundled over to the waste basket or outdoors for disposal.
