I have a subcom and I truly have no idea what to do with it. The combo edge does not work for me. I bet it is great for cutting zip ties, opening packages and so on, but for cutting food doesn't do too well.

"Tactical" usually brings to mind serrations, tanto point or black coating.
The first two are a bad idea on a folder that small. So, I would skip them.
My suggestion would be a Spyderco Chicago, if you look on the auction site,
you can find one very close to your target price.
