Hey guys I'm looking for an alternative to my strider pt cc. I love the look and strength of my pt but the lock is very hard to disengage and is tearing up my thumb.

What I want in my knife:
Strong blade (not thin)
Strong lockup and pivot(withstand small prying)
Weight under 4.5 ounces
Blade length 2.5-3 inches
Price: up to $350
I like to drop my knife into my pocket so no fixed blade please

It's just not broken in yet. :)

Take a lead pencil and mark were the lockbar engages the blade and it will be easier to open.

Grayman offers a nice item that might zero in on your price range and specifications. I've been hearing really good things about their products and service for a while now. Sadly I do not own one yet, but that may change later on.
If you want a very strong beater type knife that can take a pile of use and abuse without braking the bank, Cold Steel American Lawman and the Recon series. Great value and super tough knives.
Benchmade has the Sibert Pocket Rocket, don't recall the model number, it's a smaller knife with M390 blade steel and seems to be one of the more popular hard use genre options from them.
Spyderco Techno is another one that may fit your needs, good steel, blade geometry is excellent given the blades thickness.

@Ankerson: Good to see you around more. :)

It took three applications, to get my SMF unlocking smoothly. A mid tech I have took about 200, but it eventually worked.

The PT is my fav lilttle tank knife it sucks you are having issues with yours. Have you tried the sharpie or pencil methods on the lock face? Other than that I also really like the Boker pipsqueak, its described as the littlest big knife or the biggest little knife :) the S35VN is great and the Ti/micarta handle is quite comfy. If you are flexible on the weight then you could also check out the MPR by benchmade, its a bit heavy at 5.5oz but its a total tank and could hold up to pretty much anything.

It works really well with Striders. :)

Once they are broken it they are really smooth.

RevDevil, great suggestion with the Grayman Dua.

The Boker Albatross is another thought, but at 6 oz it is over the weight limit.

At the other end of the price scale, I've really enjoyed my Cold Steel mini Tuff Lite, though I've never pried with it.

I like the look of the grayman dua as well as the three sisters forge beast. Does anybody have any experience with either? Or preferably both and which one you like better?

I dont have any personal experience with them but in the almost year I have been here I have yet to hear anything bad about either knife. The Dua has been fairly high on my wants list for quite some time now. TSF beast lives up the the name from everything I have read about them.

Grayman duas come in all Ti or Ti and g10. Does anyone know the weight difference between those models of the dua?

My choice would be the Cold Steel Tuff Lite at about $30. Not the greatest steel, but a very strong fuctional knife with a wharncliffe blade shape which I think is a good choice for geneal cutting. I wouldn't pry with it much however nor would I pry much with any folder.
