Hi,

I am looking for a new EDC that is as at least as thin as an FRN Delica. Will be used for light tasks like cutting open packages.

-Locking blade around 3.5" and preferably open hand opening.
-Not a spyderco, want something different.
-Already tried the kershaw skyline but just never "warmed up to it" so sold it.
-In the $35 price range.
-Preferably not FRN handled

Any suggestions?

That price range is right in Kershaw's wheel house. I did not like the skyline myself but the Cryo II is not FRN and works well. Kershaw Volt Has stainless scales and is a nice knife. One under rated kershaw knife is the Link. Even though it has glass filled nylon scales it was a good slicer. Very comfortable to use. Ontario Rat 1 might be another good option.

If you can give up one hand opening, Opinel no. 8 checks the boxes for locking, thin blade around 3.5", not a Spyderco, and not FRN, and comes in WAY under budget. For your price, you could even get upgraded model with Olive Wood or something nice.

Otherwise... the Kershaw Leek comes close, but misses the price range by just a little.

It don't get no thinner, lighter, and more pocket friendly than a Victorinox.
You want something a bit larger that's one hand opening, but you could always put a Vic in your pocket along with your modern one hand opener.
This is just a suggestion to think about if you don't find exactly what you want.

Buck 722 Spitfire

Blade is slightly thicker then delica, but hollow ground keeps it slicey, and the handle is actually a bit thinner then a delica. Not frn, but a great <$35 knife.

For a bit more you can find upgrades in blade steel and handle material.

These are very nice cheaper knives I own. The Kershaw cqc7k Emerson collab is the bigger one. It is one of my all time favourite less expensive knives. The quality is amazing, and for some reason it gets STUPID sharp. It is thin and an absolute pleasure to carry and use.

The smaller one is the Kershaw Cryo g10 model. It is a nice knife too if you want something smaller. But it is assisted, which I do not love.

Included delica in pics for size comparison.

If you can live without OHO get a Vic Cadet, you won't be sorry, thin, light, great for EDC

Ruike P801 blew my mind for $25. Real thin, great slicer in a quality steel. Carries awesome.

Some of those lower end (not garbage) Chinese knives have been blowing me away lately. I am not sure what the consensus on SanRenMu is as they make knives for Spyderco but also make clones of the Sebenza, the 710 being a clone of the small and the 910 Land being a sebbie clone too. (910 is a clone of the “medium” sebbiie that doesn’t exist). I have been anazed by some of sanrenmus stuff. Srm is behind realsteel too.

Edit: i guess if it’s ok for Bradley to release the alias....( not parallel but the context in which the alias was released was to take sales from CRK)

Ruike p801. Great knife for the money. About $30. I love the design of this knife, its a ffg 14c28n 3.5 inch blade, has a deep carry clip and it's thin. Its little heavy with the steel handle but it's very comfortable in your hand. If they ever offer this with upgraded blade steel and handle material I'll be all over it. But I'll enjoy the one I have for now.
