Recommendation

A CQC-7 would be considered the quintessential Emerson. It's the famous one. A collector's necessity. I prefer a Super.

If none of that concerns you, the Gentleman Jim is sure a sweet one.

IMO, the regular CQC-7 is more people friendly than a GJ in real life. :)

Alright thank you, I'm not worried about a people friendly blade as I live way out in the country, the small percentage of time when I am around people I'll just grab my GEC 25 as it is very people friendly

Ya I do get this but if I like the GJ significantly more wouldn't I be better off going that route? Functionally is the GJ inferior?

Ultimately, you have to go with what you like. What's going to make you feel happy carrying in your pocket. The GJ is a great looking knife. If that's the way you are leaning, you really can't go wrong. Besides, I suspect that after you get your first Emerson, a 7 will be in your possession relatively soon. :) The GJ has a good size blade. Be sure to post pics when you get it.

Totally agree!

Get what you like, what you are attracted to. Theres plenty of time to "play the field" later. ;)

Get the Gentleman Jim. It seems to be what you want, comeback later for a 7 or a 13. The thirteen was my first Emerson and I became hooked on them because of it.

I know I'm late to the party, but the Gentleman Jim is one of my favorite Emerson shapes, it looks mean, has enough belly, a fine tip for detail carving crap out of your fingers, and it looks just sexy; it is on my list of "most wanted" Emersons after I get the whole Roadhouse series. Now if I could get a hold of a Zealot, I'd put that one on top of the list. Whatever you get, post pics when you do, along your 25.

Posting pics seems extremely difficult, I tried when I got my 25, and dang!

Get yourself a Photobucket account (it's free) and upload your pics there. It's a breeze from your iPhone or Android as well as your computer. Once there, you copy the URL for the image and paste that URL in your text here.
