Hello all.

I thought it was time for a new beater/camping/hiking/fishing/EDC/etc knife, so I am coming to you all for recommendations. :)

I'm looking for a light-weight folder that would be easy to "pocket".
This knife will probably be the only knife with me while I go about my day (whether I am camping, doing some handy work, or just outside my neighborhood).

I'm looking for:
Price: $50-60-ish?
Blade size: 2.5 - maybe 3.5 inches??? (not set) (Definitely not 4 inches or over)
Light-weight
Needs a pocket clip
One hand opener
Most likely ffg (not set)
Plain edge

Not tactical looking (no Cold Steel (I'm sorry. I really don't like how they look.))
No multitools
No stainless steel handles
Not bulky

I've been looking at:
Spyderco Delica/Endura (Delica seems too small and Endura seems too big)
Benchmade (Mini-)Grip (handle seems a bit thick though)
Some Kershaws (but I don't really know much about them)
Ontario Rat (seems a bit heavy and bulky. Are they?)

Any recommendation?
:)

The buck vantage pro is the best knife you can get in the 60 dollar range. S30v steel with Paul Bos ht on it, nice g10 scales and bucks forever warranty all for 60 bucks.

The Buck Vantage Pro seems a bit bulky. Is it?
I'm looking for a light weight knife that "disappears".
Is there such thing?

The mini grip isn't as bulky as it looks in pictures. I hardly notice it in the bottom of my pocket. The ontario rat 1 is way way bigger than the mini grip and for me is too big to carry in my pocket everyday. A kershaw would be a good alternative to a delica or mini grip. I'm rather fond of the leek, it's slim and not nearly as delicate as it looks and still has a good cutting edge. Honestly, any kershaw will do you well it comes down to aesthetics.

regarding the buck vantage pro, its not too bad... 5oz. and no thicker than most folders out there on the market.

the kershaw blur seems to fit the bill and carries extremely well but may be more on the "tactical" side with its speed assist

or i would just go with a delica in ffg or emerson wave which pretty much match up with everything in your criteria :)

the above suggestion are ofcourse in your 50-60ish price range...

That delica ffg is as good as it gets with your criteria you layed out. I have been using one for a while and just keep on coming back to it. It is so thin and light and came stupid sharp out of the box. Id recommend it very highly. Plus they come in several colors! haha

LOL, I also thought about the delica as soon as I read the criteria.

Get the Spyderco Delica4 in FFG. You will not be disappointed. :D I recommend the brown scales. They look fantastic in real life!

I definitely do not want any assisted openers (forgot to add that in the post).

Also, Buck Vantage Pro seems too heavy (5 oz) and bulky?

I've held the Griptilian, but not the Mini-Grip.
It felt very good in the hand, but the handle thickness was at the higher end of the spectrum in regards to preferred handle bulkiness.

It's summer, so most of the time (when my knife is clipped to my pocket) I will be wearing shorts. If I'm not wearing shorts, then it will probably be in my bag/purse.
Therefore, light weight is and slim is a must.

I was looking at specs, and the Delica seems like the best match for me.
Is the Endura very large? It says it is 8.75 inches (overall length) and 5 inches closed.
I only consider this because you get a lot more knife for the (almost) same price as a Delica.

(Please bear with my horrible grammer. I am a bit rushed at the moment.)

There are many "endura vs delica" threads out there on the interwebs. The general opinion seems to be that people who own both of those knives tend to reach for their delica more often. For EDC, it's everything you need and much more comfortable and pocketable to carry than the endura. The endura is a fine, fine knife, but some people find it a little big for every day carry.

This is an important point, especially since your first criteria is "I'm looking for a light-weight folder that would be easy to 'pocket'."

If you dont like thick handles I would also go for any spyderco vg10 blade steel and up.

There's the ladybug if you want something small

I carry a vantage pro everyday and with the pocket clip it has on it literally all you can see is the clip. And its not at all bulky to carry.

I too think you would fall in love with the vantage pro. It rides in the pocket perfectly. I definitely do not notice the weight. Your getting a lot of knife for 60 bucks. I honostly think its at the top of the list as far as best bang for your buck goes. The s30v is heat treated right and it holds an edge longer than most. It has excellent blade retention when closed but glides open like butter when you need it.

Spyderco pacific salt 1, its basically a rust proof endura, without steel liners (which are unecessary for most CUTTING tasks) so the knife only weighs 3 oz. The endura looks big online/paper but in the pocket it feels like nothing because it is really light and really thin. But i highly recommend either the pacific salt 1 and/or endura 4 ffg.
