good day to y'all. well, i'm on the market for a smallish fixed blade for EDC. been poking around quite a bit, and i keep on coming back to strider.. basically, looking for something between 3" and 4" in length. looking at the site, it's a bit of sensory overload. so many knives, not enough $$$ (or places to carry 'em, for that matter!).

input and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,

steve

I would of course recomend the DB. Big knife performance in a small knife package. It conceals well in the IWB sheath, and is very fast into action in reverse grip from behind the hip. Good Luck-they are all real good.

I like my AD a lot; it's a good size for EDC, and the blade has enough point for fine work.

devilboy:

My slavish devotion to the AD on this forum must be getting tiresome. I spent a long time d*cking around with lots of knives before I ordered the AD. It saved my life.... It REALLY saved my life in a terrible situation in India. It's length, it's handle, the cut-out and it's concealability are unsurpassed. Even given the current yuppie fascination with "neck knives" and the countless makers who offer them, the AD can not be beaten. NOTHING will get this knife away from me and I honor Strider for designing and making it. Duane even offered to design a shoulder harness for it and I intend to pay them a visit soon. Burke's right, devilboy, it's the AD.

I like the SA as it has a little more belly to the blade than the AD. Plus, the DB is named after some cop turned hippie writer type! :D Who in their right mind would buy anything like a DB is beyond me....Let alone 30 and counting....;)

There you go Ryan-what happen they transfer you to a plane-if it doesn't hover pal it sucks and blows. And you have been on the NVG's way too long-have you seen my haircut, yeah I really look like a long hair hippy dope smoker. Actually I just got sick of the pogues writing articles. Back to knives-I like the AD, and SA as well. In my opinion the DB has far greater prying and puncturing ability with numerous mediums. I'll agree the others may be better utility cutters, but I feel the DB is the best all around choice. I'll be headed to Central America in a couple of months, and after dragging out the tons of blades, I have decided on the DB for carrying and traveling. I figure it will cut stuff pretty good in the outdoors, but my real concern is anti personnel work in the city. Any of Striders 3 small concealables should serve you well-the HT is another good choice in a slightly larger package. Good Luck, you have the right maker, just choose the tool you like the best.

As far as Striders go: I just got a flat ground MFS and it carries pretty well. I like the MFS out of Strider's small knives as most (other than the HT) have blades 3.5 inches or less. I like knives that may be used for defense to have blades of at least 4 inches as the MFS does.
