Hey guy's, I want any recommendations you guy's have for a good daily carry knife. One that can be used and abused and not have to worry about it breaking on me. My price range tops out at around 200 dollars. Thanks!

For that budget, you'll get a slew of different suggestions and they will all be good. I am currently waiting on my Spyderco PM3 w/m390 blade steel that I had preordered what seems like a couple of weeks ago. There is a current Sprint Run on these at a well known online vendor.

Well...that narrows it down to a couple thousands knives.

Help us out...throw us a bone....

Locking mechanism? Steel type? Blade type? Intended use? Handle material?

That should give us some place to start.

Opinel Mushroom Knife would be an option

Abused how ?
Knives are for cutting stuff.

I recommend something from.victorinox, you've got actual tools on it so you won't be prying or trying to turn screws with your blade.

What size (blade/overall) are you looking for? Also, as Marci noted, locking mechanism and other information would be useful to ensure helpful suggestions. Without any other info, and assuming you mean modern and not a traditional folder, i will throw out my current favorite in that price range which is the ZT 0450. Depending on other info, there are several others i might recommend instead.

Hello, Locking mechanism preferably frame lock, Blade type spear or drop point, Steel S30v, m390, cpm154, Use to cut cardboard, plastic, every now and then but I work on motorcycles so something durable. I'm not that big of a knife guy so i'm trying my best here. Something modern.

It won't take much searching to find a lot of similar threads with recommendations attempting to fill your criteria. The usual suspects from ZT, Spyderco, Benchmade, Cold Steel, etc.

If we're just throwing out our favorite "hard use" EDC folder I guess I'll go Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1 or 2.

As stated above, the more specific you get, the more applicable the suggestions will be. At least come back with the intended use and blade length. Otherwise this will be two and a half pages of the same EDC recommendations we always hear about, then someone stating "for $200, just get four Delicas" and thread's over.

Edit: I see you posted some requirements. I'll stick with my recommendation of the Gayle Bradley, type 1 if you can find it. The M4 is M390 equivalent.

That helps. When you "work on motorcycles" does that entail cutting belts or hoses, or using your knife to pry ot as a screwdriver?

Knifeworks exclusive Spyderco Military in CTS 204p. 4” slicey blade, comes razor sharp and has a perfectly executed liner lock.

I would have saved so much money if I had only picked a Military first...

A benchmade 940, Only thing I don't like about it is the handle is small and a little slick in the hand when in use. Let be a little more specific here for you guys. Something that fits in the hand and is decent sized and I can grip and not have to worry about is moving around in use, no more than a 4 inch blade as stated above.

Does it matter to you if it's a flipper ? Or, are you looking for a non flipper ?
Zero Tolerance has some smaller knives close to your price range. They are flippers.
There's a host of non flippers, Spyderco, BenchMade are a couple popular brands that have non flippers.
Toward the bottom of the main page, there is a dealers forum that you can look/shop to see what you may be interested in.

Does not matter if it's a flipper but I will look into a zt now you mention it.

My two daily carries are a Benchmade Griptilian and a Benchmade Bugout so those are obviously my recommendation. The Griptilian sounds like more what you might be looking for than the Bugout though

OK! How about a Spydeco Paramilitary? People around here are nuts for 'em.

How about a Viper Fortis? Titanium framelock flipper with an M390 drop point blade.

No knife is impervious to abuse. Spending more money doesn't mean you don't have to worry about using it smart. By all means get yourself a nice knife, but get a cheap, sturdy one too for the true abuse part. You'll feel a lot less angry when you chip an edge or lose a tiny bit of the tip on a $40 Ontario Rat or whatever than on a $200 ZT.
