Recommendation's for a good daily carry knife

No knife is impervious to abuse. Spending more money doesn't mean you don't have to worry about using it smart. By all means get yourself a nice knife, but get a cheap, sturdy one too for the true abuse part. You'll feel a lot less angry when you chip an edge or lose a tiny bit of the tip on a $40 Ontario Rat or whatever than on a $200 ZT.

That is an excellent point.

+1 on the Spyderco Military. The framelock version is engineered to the same lock strength as the liner lock, and the latter is lighter; I recommend considering both. I prefer the Millie to the Para Military 2, especially when it comes to handle comfort.

It's not a frame lock, but the Spyderco Manix 2 in G10 otherwise fits the bill quite well. (And since you don't pry, you might also consider the Manix 2 Lightweight in S110V; amazing steel, incredibly light knife . . . but no slouch in the strength department.) Ditto the ZT 0350, although that strays a bit further afield (but the liner lock in that one is as thick as most frame locks!).

Kizer V3 Vigor framelock not linerlock. G-10 and Titanium with S35VN for a little over $100. I got it for less but I checked and they are out of stock. Very strong knife, great blade steel & it's a TI framelock. Flies open out of the box. If you put a little Nano oil in the pivot it smooths out in 2 seconds. I have a lot of knives that fit your parameters but I think that for the money you are getting an incredible knife with great steel that is built very strong. It's a great EDC if you like having a full size blade. In addition you have enough left on your budget to get a Tangram Santa Fe to carry with, it runs about $30. It is a great box cutter and good for everyday use. I have both but you can watch the reviews on YouTube. I am not a paid actor I just think these are great EDC knives.

A little late but I was going to suggest the GB2. It's what I go to when wanting something larger than my 940.

I think ZT will fit your purposes just fine also. Many good models to choose from. Happy hunting.

All good suggestions for you so far...

Cold Steel American Lawman or Recon 1, both in cts xhp steel

I agree. The GB2 is a great knife and almost indestructible. The lock might not be for everyone though. Bit of a PITA. But it is truly a beautiful and well made knife IMO.

I just ordered a ZT 0620 on clearance (BHQ for well under $200) and it will join my GB2 as my 2 “hard use” knives.

Lots of mentioned options in this thread are great ones as well, but YMMV if it doesn’t feel right in your hand, is too heavy, is too long, etc.

For that budget, you'll get a slew of different suggestions and they will all be good. I am currently waiting on my Spyderco PM3 w/m390 blade steel that I had preordered what seems like a couple of weeks ago. There is a current Sprint Run on these at a well known online vendor.

Or a Sage 5.

I’d you need to abuse a knife more than these can handle, then you’re probably using the wrong tool.

I'll give you a couple of my favorites; Steel Will Mini Cutjack (in M390 and G-10 scales) and Spyderco Native 5. Good regular carry folding knives with about a 3" blade. One has a back lock and the other (Steel Will) is a flipper.

For 200 you can get a Spyderco Military and an alox swiss army knife like a pioneer X. Between the two there is not much you cant do.

I say pick up a Delica or Endura in VG10 or ZDP189. These are near the top of the pack, when it comes to true slicing. They are great knives that you won't feel guilty abusing. Some of Spyderco's best selling models....

Unless you are absolutely non-negotiable on getting a frame lock, may I respectfully suggest a Cold Steel American Lawman, a Cold Steel Voyager and a couple of Ontario RAT-1s in any iteration/color you prefer. That should put you at your limit. Maybe skip the second RAT-1 and use that money to get some decent sharpening stones.

For a single beast-of-a-knife, check out the Benchmade Adamas which is withing your budget. The Zero Tolerance 630, a frame lock, is one heck of a knife.

I only recently acquired my first American Lawman and posted this thread about it:

For your budget, you should be able to get more than one very capable knives suitabe for your purposes.

I appreciate all the suggestions and helpful information. I decided to go with a Viper Fortis as I found a deal I could not refuse. Thank's for all the help!

Look for something that carries well in the pocket. For a non-locking folder I would recommend you the Douk douk knife.. For the knives that do have a lock something like a Cold Steel Code 4 , ESEE Avispa , Kershaw 1870 , or even a Gerber EAB may be good enough for your EDC tasks
