Recommendations for a hunter style folder for under $100

Others to consider are the Schrade LB7/LB5. They're very much like the Buck 110/112 and every bit as robust. Personally, I find the Schrades to be more ergonomic in the hand, somehow. Some even came with a drop-point blade. They've been out of production for years now, but you can find them virtually brand new on the secondhand market for around $40 each.

Knifeworks has the Mackinac Hunter nail nick version for around $47. The Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter suggestion was a good one. But I like the SKblades.com 154CM drop point Buck 110. It comes in black, grey, and orange G10.

I have a USA made lb7 from about 1982. Great knife. I don't think you can go wrong with that style. Once I give my Schrade to one of my kids, I'll replace it with a 110.

There's a used Tree Brand Classic 1988 with stag on Ebay for $100. I'd snap a Tree Brand Classic 2000 up in a second for $40.

In the January issue of Blade there's an article on the 110. I think I read somewhere too that there's an auto version out, or coming out. Has a nice looking Schatt & Morgan Jumbo Half Whittler with stag on the cover. Looks like it goes for $100.

The Queen Mountain Man in D2 is a very nice knife, and the CS Ultimate Hunter also a good choice.
