Recommendations for a spear point folder..

BenchMade 14210 or Smokey Mountain knifeworks has a great deal right now on the KaBar Dozier Designed Thorn that is akin to carrying a pocket scalpel on you at all times. That D2 blade on this one is one of the most impressive cutters in my entire collection. I paid like $110 for my Thorn. SMKW has it right now for $50. Order number KFSKA4060 or KA4060. One is $49.95 the other $60.95. Seems its the same folder but if thats the case I'd go with the cheap one. I think it must be a misprint and that the more expensive one is the black one but can't say for sure.

EDIT: my bad. The $50 one is the Knife for a soldier deal they currently are offering. Even still $70 for that knife isn't a bad deal at all.

Howdy!!! I just picked up a T1 lone Wolf with carbon fiber scales and S30V steel in a modified spearpoint with some serrations. Great medium size tool that feels awsome in hand. Solid and Traditional with bunch of High/Tech thrown in. About $80.00 on line... The CRKT M21 is another choice that is less costly... L8R... ~baba~

Thanks for all your input guys..

The Thorn looks really good.. not bad a price at $70... I was looking at the Lone Wolf T1 too as well as the Browning Ice Storm, except that I couldn't seem to get a decent price on the Ice Storm. Some guy on the forum said he got it for $30!! anyone knows where to get it for that price??

Let's throw in one more into the mix.. how about an inexpensive alternative.. the benchmade Fecas?? anyone used this?? any opinion? Search function didn't turn up too much info.. I know its Aus-8.. but I suppose at $19.99.. you can't argue with the choice of steel...

I like the M21 models better than the M16 in the CRKT line. More to choose from and the are all AUS-8A where the Zytel M16's (and maybe others) are only AUS-6M.

Gary

I recommended the Benchmade 530 in an earlier post.

But at a lower price point, the CRKT M16 in AUS 8 is a proven design, a spear point, and one of CRKT's nicest knives.

I don't get it. Why does everyone keep mentioning the M16's? All the large (4") spear points are in the Zytel handle and they arel are AUS-6M. Maybe one of the desert models is in AUS-8A but that's about it. Only some of the smaller M16 knives are in AUS-8A. Go for the M21. They are ALL AUS-8A, as I pointed out in my post. And they all look great with the gray handles.

Well, after checking out the CRKT website and some well known dealers on the M16, I am dizzy. So many versions of one knife! Seems that there is a 3.5" AUS 8 blade version, but the CRKT site shows it only in comboedge.

So bladeprince's advice on the M21 sounds good.

BTW, the Zytel M16s are made with AUS 4 blades now. How sad.

Maybe not a spearpoint but while your checking out CRKT check out the Lightfoot M1. Very stout knife for the price. Also the RAT model 1 folder is a great knife also both come with AUS 8 blade steel.
