Recommendations for FFG Titanium Flippers

I just recently got started in collecting and buying more higher quality knives. I own some Kershaw Leeks and Spyderco PM2's in various steels. But here lately I have started to love the look on the full flat ground titanium frame lock flippers. I love the looks of the Grismo Rask, Shirogorov's, and knives with those sleek very clean lines. But atm don't have quite that much money to spend on a 1k Shiro. I would like to ask all of you here on BladeForums if you could show me some knives with a bit lower price range. Any recommendations would help. Thanks a lot guys

The one that comes to my mind is the spyderco domino. Comes around 200usd i think.

$125

Domino (although it's better without a flipper)

If you want high quality FFG Ti flipper then a Shiro Neon is hard to beat

The ZT0450 is a nice one too

Spyderco Slytz ( sp?) Bowie. Spyderco Advocate after some changes are made. Bradley 1 or 2 discontinued.

Boker Epicenter. Several newer ZT models and the list goes on...

Edit: the Stytz Bowie is not a flipper, most guys can open them very fast tho.

Are you looking for full titanium? Or can the non locking scale be something different? A bunch of ZT knives should fit the bill.

Also, what size do you like? If you like them in the large range, the Reate Horizon D with either full titanium or a carbon fiber show side scale is a really nice knife in addition to the already mentioned and smaller Wave.

I really wish there were a bunch of similar knives but with a different lock type and something other than a frame lock. I've had too many nice knives close on me unexpectedly which is a failure in my book. They also have to be adjusted and made just right to flip nicely and reliably. By far the best flipper I own is a Kershaw RAM that uses a HAWK lock and spring pressure to hold the blade closed and provide the resistance to a flipper instead of a ball and detent. I have 4 of them and they all flip reliably, effortlessly, and consistently and better than any frame lock I own or have tried.

I really wish the new Benchmade 781 Anthem had a flipper. I'm sure it could be done with a little ingenuity and now that it looks like the AXIS lock patent has really expired I really hope some other companies put their spin on it and it becomes popular like the frame lock which started gaining popularity with makers when the patent expired.

Wow thanks for all the responses guys. A lot of good knives, I partically like the Reate Wave and the size. I don't mind a larger knife but I don't want it to large, really over 4 inches might be a little much. I just like the Simplicity look of full flat grind along with tit handles, thats why I think the Shiros look so good. Some of the Kizers look great too. I think the Neon is a great choice, but it just seems to me the hype over them has pushed the price a little higher than I would wanna pay. Even tho I would still love one, just gotta like one enough to start saving and not spend it on some thing else heh :-P

I also really like to Rask from Grismo, but another one I would have to save for. Not to mention the availability of certian knives like the Neon or Rask.

Kizer Gemini also.

My first thought, and what I'd recommend for these requirements. Great knife, not very expensive, hard to go wrong.

I think the Neon is a great choice, but it just seems to me the hype over them has pushed the price a little higher than I would wanna pay.

Maybe it was just me, but I was very underwhelmed by the Neon I handled. I'd recommend getting your hands on one to see if you'd like it first. It was the most un-Shiro like Shiro I've handled. It flipped fine, but if you'd tossed it in a pile of Chinese bearing flipper titanium handled knives of the sort that sell for $50 on those sites we don't talk about, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

I was pumped for it because after buying two Shiros (a Hati and a 95) that I liked but never carried and ended up reselling (because of their size, mostly--I preferred carrying my 0454 to either so they saw little "big folder" pocket time) there was finally a little one I might carry more. Then I had it in hand and found the styling bland, and felt nothing that screamed that it was worth what it was going for and I was turned off pretty much instantly.

Lionsteel TRE, though I'd recommend the ones with the G10 front scale, they tend to have better flipping action. I'd also recommend They Giant Mouse GM1 (Almost FFG, a very small flat at the spine of the blade).

Seconds on recommending the Spyderco Mantra and the Kizer Gemini.

I would love to be able to handle a Shiro, different models and get a good feel on them first hand. I do know there is a local blade show coming at the end of the month that I have never went to. I am hoping to have a little bit of money saved up and go and hopefully see some good stuff there. I just looked at the Kizer Gemini and it actually looks pretty great and at a nice price it seems. The WE Knife Co. 604F has also caught my eye.

Sooooooo many great knives to check out!!

Benchmade. The 761 here is a fantastic one, one of the best actions out there with excellent steel! One of the best slicers also.

Spydie. The Domino can be flicked open many different ways too! Another great slicer!!

The list goes on and on, but the hunt is so much fun!!
Let us know what you decide!!
Good luck!

Oooooops!
Almost forgot one of the best!!
Spydie Ti Millie. A bit large, but a fantastic knife! If tip down doesn't bother you.

Thanks Pelonej! That Benchmade 761 is interesting, gonna have to check that one out. My town sucks for having any good shops that sell knives, there is only a couple. But one is a Benchmade retailer so much go and see if they have one I could check out in person. Those TI Millies are awesome, I have been also debating rather to get some TI scales for one of my PM2's. Its just taking it apart and getting it back together perfect, that red locktite is a bitch.
