Recommendations for first EDC knife

"If you were willing to go up to around 125.00 I would say try to snag a paramilitary 2"

Hi CQC86,
any idea where to shop the new Paramilitary 2012 for a good price?
I did not match anything under 150$ or they are outa stock.
Thx, Thorsten

Id go with a BM Griptilian or perhaps a BM 940 (it's so sexy)... And like some other dudes said, Spyderco isn't a bad choice, I especially like the Tenacious, good allround blade. Good luck

The Spyderco Delica is a classic beginners EDC....terrific blade steel, iconic one hand opening, light weight and flat for handy pocket carry, made by company with one of the best warranties in the business. For less than $60 it's an outstanding choice; everything a pocket cutting tool should be, it will provide you with lasting performance.

find a thin and light weight knife. make sure you get your hands on an actual knife before you buy it, I wouldn't just trust anyone's suggestion. your hands are not the same as others.

Sage 1 fits your criteria and is a fantastic knife. I happen to be selling one NIB in your price range. Link in signature. vvvvvv

Okay, So This Will Be Your First Knife? I Say Make It A Memorable Knife.. And Any Of The Knives Mentioned Would Be Just That.
You'll Move On To Bigger And Better Knives But You'll Never Forget Your First.
So If It's A Good Knife.. It'll Be That Much More Memorable.

So Here Are My Suggestions:
-Spyderco Tenacious - It's A Great Blade, For The Money Especially, It Performs Like A $60 Knife And It's Only $30. Spydercos 8cr13mov Is Very Good.
-Spyderco Persistence - Another Great Blade For The Money, It's The Tenacious' Little Brother. Mine Is A Beater And Holds Up Great, Even Compared To "Better" Blades.
-Spyderco Delica 4 FFG - Great Knife, Will Hold Up To Almost Any Task, And Excellent For EDC. It's Just A Good Knife. And The Blade Steel Is Good.
-Spyderco Endura 4 FFG - Another Wonderful Knife - The Big Brother Of The Delica.
-Spyderco Native - s30v And Great Materials And Around $50, You Cannot Beat The Value Of This Knife.
-Kershaw Leek - Great Little Knife.
-Kershaw Skyline - Another Good One
-Kershaw Scamp - It's $20 And It's GREAT.

a lot of people are suggesting the persistence, resilience, or tenacious. I would suggest against that. the blade steel rusts too easily. You may be able to maintain it well on the blade itself, but the interiors will rust up. that was my experience at least, moisture got under the tang and especially in the detention hole. this affected the blades performance, and If you are a first time blade buyer it may sour your mood towards knives in general.

I had a Delica for years before I was actually into knives, steels, and all the stuff. If you can get one in FFG (full flat grind) I believe it would be perfect. there just like a modern Buck 110

My first heavily carried EDC was a Spyderco Native. I think the thing is built like a tank, has great ergos, and good steel. I picked it up for like $50 and it is made in the US which I prefer, I still carry this knife often.

The Tenacious is amazing and was my first knife which sucked my soul into this addiction. If you want something super nice that seems like it would cost over $100 but is only $50, get the Centofante 3.

It has a GREAT blade shape and the price just keeps on going up.

You just have to search around a bit. You should be able to find one from a reputable dealer for $100-110. I believe knifecenter has them in stock and always keep an eye on that popular jungle themed website, they can be had for under $100 if you catch it at the right time. Otherwise just check out knifecenter and howe's and cutlery shop and some of the other popular knife shop sites.

For that price range I'd also say cold steel recon1
The new CS voyager is also a good choice
