Recommendations needed - folding knife for fruit

The main blade on any SAK makes short work of apples.

An alox Cadet or Cadet II would fit the bill and cost only about $20. Sheeple friendly too. Plus you can file your nails and open a Guinness, not to mention a can of tuna.

I would lean toward the Gerber Gator folder. They make a drop-point full-flat ground one in 154CM. I think i paid something like $35 for mine. it has a big, soft, rubber-like handle and a very solid-feeling lockback. It does not have a carry-clip, but a carrying pouch that looks kinda like a cell-phone case. But that's no issue if you plan to leave it at work.

How about a Victorinox Aluminum handled . Bantam. It is as thin as a pocket comb and rides next to my pocket comb all day in my back pocket. I I hardly know it is there.

It has the SAK main blade for fruit. The combo tool for beer opening and can opening. The screw driver for opening tins of tea. A wonderful tool to have at work and it will not scare the sheeple.

That's the ticket, but I see the price limit of $50 is being put forth. I would say buying the proper knife for the job is of more importance than price, but it is not my money. The AG Russell Fruit testing Knife is in ats-34, which is a high quality steel. You can cut an apple, orange, or spread peanut butter and jelly at a picnic with the knife. I would spring for the extra money and get a really nice fruit knife. I think you will be very happy with the choice.

Although I always things like a sebenza, UKPK, buck waimea, etc, I also have a stainless Opinel #8 in my lunch bag for cutting up the large quantities of fruit that I consume. As has been noted, the fruit juices eventually gum up the pivot, but I just open and close the blade repeatedly under the faucet, and it comes out just fine.
