Recommendations on a knife for a soldier

It is a bit surprising that only one fellow member (unless I missed others) suggested Busse.
Busse makes runs for the military on a reg basis, and have some real nice blades in the price range.

From the exchange one can find:
Jackhammer
boss jack
SAR6, SAR7
and other 5-7" blades that could be suitable.

If carbon steel is not a problem then Swamprat or Scrapyard knives also are worth looking into, they are from the Busse family but cheaper.

I'm a former in U.S. Army Infantryman who served in from 1986-1991. I did have a Randall but due to the higher price, never carried it to work. There are many times when an expensive knife "disappears" when your working. Some one could walk off with it at any time. I would suggest a bit lesser expensive knife somewhere in the $50-$150 dollar range. SOG, Cold Steel, Becker, ESEE and Benchmade all have blades that would fit your description. They're good looking, durable knives that won't make you cry if lost or stolen. Hope that helps and happy shopping.
