I've been looking at the ZT 0804CF, ZT 0452CF and the ZT 0566CF. Any thoughts from anyone who has experience with this trio of flippers?

I only have the 452CF from that line up and I can tell you it is completely and totally fantabulous!!!

I can only comment on the 0566. I'm actually carrying it right now. Awesome little knife. Great steel, and perfectly centered blade with no play in any direction. For a small knife it fits my average size hand perfectly. I like the stainless frame lock as it gives the knife some heft, and rock solid lockup. Oh.....the assisted opening blazes out on mine, and I like that. You also have the option of de-assisting it if you're not into AO. It is a great little heavy duty edc knife.

Hands down the 452 for me. So thin I can't hardly tell it is in my pocket, deploys phenomenally, and sooooo damn sexy. I have had the 801, 456, 562, 452, 450, 770, 909, 900, 920, 808, and the 452 is number one for me. Tried out the 566 in store and it was my least favorite.

Out of those, the ZT 0566 is the best in my opinion. It is slim and carries amazingly well. But, it can handle anything that you need in an EDC or a larger knife. This makes it my favourite EDC personally.

ZT 0804CF, ZT 0452CF and the ZT 0566CF.
the 804cf is the best of the 3, I love mine. with cts-204p it will have the best edge retention. its also ultra smooth action. the opening action is not as fast as the 0452 tho. its got mini bearings for the kvt bearings which I like alot better than the standard kvt bearings. its only got two clip positions but I keep mine stock. good grip too. the lockbar on both the 804cf and 0452 can and will go all the way to the other side of the frame.. some people don't prefer that. anyway its a bit of a large knife its tacticool with a black dlc coated blade. some folks haven't bought it because they don't like the blade or that its dlc coated.

the 0452 has some really amazing action. its also large and scary to people. one of the things I noticed is there are fakes of this that you can't even tell the difference except by its action. so make sure to get from an authorized dealer. no telling what blade material your getting otherwise. this ones much thinner than the 804cf and maybe slightly longer closed? I like mine a lot. going to send mine to get a regrind cause in think it will be a better slicer with a regrind, not to mention look even more badass (and scary lol). I haven't tested the blade steel on this one as I don't carry it edc cause people freak when I take it out.

the 0566 I'd avoid myself because its speedsafe, if you like speedsafe by all means its a great knife. also they have changed the blade steel from elmax to s35vn. elmax from zt has shown to be excellent despite the rumors of old. the current s35vn on some of the knives has shown to have poor edge retention compared to the competition. true or not, the proofs in the pudding and I've noticed it on mine too. so I'd recommend going with the elmax if you can find one even used. if edge retention is not a concern don't even frett. I like to get my monies worth tho.

I got the zt 0562cf instead of the 0566 and will never look back, I love it. its just a ball bearing flipper with amazing action. none of that bs speedsafe. the blade profile is great for my tasks and its 204p (or m390 which is very similar if not the same in performance to 204p (and 20cv))

hard decision, its really up to what you like the most.

Looking at the 0095 BLK is very much worth it. I love mine and the S90V.

I've owned the 0350, 0770CF, 0561,0801, and sold them all. The 0095 is my favorite thus far. If a manual 0770CF with KVT came out, it would be a toss up.

I have a zt 0452cf, 804cf and the 0920. Of the three, the strongest flipper is the 0920. I do love the hell out of my 804cf though. Tough choice, get both.

i would remove the 0566 from the list
It is much smaller and IMHO not in the same league as the 0804 and 0452
In the 4" range the 0452 will be easier/slimmer to carry while the 0804 will be a more substantial and have some kind of a hard use feeling to it

If you're looking for a large ZT manual KVT (caged bearings) flipper you have several to choose from:
  • 0452CF - 4.1" S35VN (slim and light, look for Sprints too for better steel) - $220-$260
  • 0920 - 3.9" 20CV - $240
  • 0804CF - 3.875" 204P or 20CV - $280
  • 0909 - 3.875" S35VN (value leader but liner lock and much heavier than others above) - $180
