I am in the market for a new folder in the 100 buck ranger. I carry mini griptilian and want to get something with a little longer and slender blade on it to use food prep and what not. I would like it to be in a steel like s30v I have looked at the boker kwaiken but have read mixed reviews. Also I would like the new folder to have a pocket clip and be capable of one hand operation you guys are the pros so what would you recommend?

There are many Spyderco blades that fit your bill. I recommend the Endura. Many different steel, grind, scale color, and opening method options.

You'll read mixed reviews on darn near everything. It's the internet... even pizza gets a bad rap sometimes.

If you like the Boker Kwaiken, then get it. You'll know if it's for you or not.

In the same neighborhood is the Boker Urban Trapper. Comes in a couple configurations.

Try one of these out and let us know what you think.

Maybe check out the exchange or eBay to find a used Benchmade 940 in your price range. Seems to meet all your requirements

Spyderco's are usually great slicers. I love my BM 940 but I wouldn't say it's an exceptional slicer. Look at the Boker Urban Trappers too.
I've got a Boker Kwaiken and it's a cool knife, but I think there are better.
Another option my be a traditional folder like a GEC 42. Love mine.
Good luck!

TBM, if you are a little flexible on the slender blade and willing to go up a few $, I would much prefer to use a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 as you describe. Happy hunting.

What you are looking for is the Benchmade Osborne 940. Unfortunately it's running in the $185 range. But if you can find the extra $$, do it. One of THE best folders out there.

I have strongly considered the para 2 just not sure what is that you believe makes it a good choice

The para 2 is the knife I take hiking, and I compared my uses to your original post. Longer than the mini grip, slender enough blade, definitely a slicer and capable for food prep. S30V is an option, great 4 position clip that sits well tip up in my RF pocket, love the compression lock, G-10, multiple one-handed deployment options. Not sure where you are in GA, I used to live in Marietta. There are places in and around Atlanta where you could handle various knives if that would help you make a decision.

I believe I will be trying to find one thanks for pointing out the particulars for me

Endura Emerson.

The Emerson version doesnt just stand out for the Emerson opener, but also the quite unique and very simple blade shape that isnt common aside from its sibling, the Delica. As the blade has been slimmed down to accommodate the hook, its a thinner, maybe thinnest, version of Spyderco's leaf design. Its a fantastic dicer with VG-10; not as tough as S30v, but made for slicing.

2 really great knives. Tremendous value.

Agreed.

I would suggest a Spyderco Stretch or an Endura. The Stretch has more belly for slicing, but the Endura has a slightly longer blade, and a bit more straight edge. The blades are 3.5" and 3 3/4", respectively.

It's done I ordered a para military 2 from blade hq thanks for all the recommendations I'll let u guys know when I get it
