what would everyone recommend for a custom hunting knife? I'm sending some blades with a friend who's an elk guide for a big outfitter. I have about 6 blades ready for heat treat, that I'm hoping to have done by the weekend. This was short notice. I'm ballparking the hardness. I'm guessing around 60-61 rc would be ideal. So maybe a double temper at around 350 degrees? These will be quenched in parks 50. I want them to have good edge retention, but also good toughness. Not sure how these guys will use these knives.
