I did a search for "Recommending knife makers" and other related searches but found nothing.

In a thread like this https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/knife-maker-recommendation.1548170/, is it ok to mention makers by name when folks ask for a recommendation? I didn't see a specific rule on it but I just wondered if it is considered inappropriate in any way. I like to try to support fellow makers but I don't want makers getting offended that they aren't being mentioned or that some makers might be "drumming for business" if you know what I mean.

I generally just recommend that people post in the https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/wanted-knifemaker-craftsman-related-services.871/ and if a maker responds, do a search to check out his (or her) work.

I have bought a few fixed blades from BF knife makers.

I don't consider it inappropriate to recommend a maker who has made you a knife that you like.
