Yep, i'll be giving my American Lawman this treatment when i get it! Blade, lock, and anything else that can be de-epoxied!
I saw a really nice modded AL in the for-sale forum - some really, really sweet design-grind on the exposed part of the lock. WOW! It looked really nice.
I thought I'd mention that the rear backspacer on the Recon 1 is made of a soft alloy - probably aluminum. If you're a scraper, beware, it's best to use sandpaper on this one part. It's cleans up but not like the steel of the blade & lockbar.
It isn't hard at all. I am most definitely mechanically challenged and I took it appart. Just push down before you unscrew the torx screws and they come right out. Also, warming up the handle with a blow dryer, before you take them out will help - a lot!
If you won't take it apart, don't strip the blade. The end job will look crappy, the locking bar and blade tang will be silver where you can get at it and black where you can't. A real butcher job, IMHO.
