Spear, clip, or tanto? Plain edge, full serrations, or half serrations?

Plain edge spear point feels like the most well-rounded option for my daily uses. What say you?

i like all the blade shapes. visually I like the clip best, and its fine for using too. the drop point/spear point is best user of the bunch.

no serrations. plain edge.

I love the clip point but I sadly passed on a spearpoint for sale earlier today for a good price. Would love to add the spearpoint to the rotation!!!

I generally like partially serrated blades to help get through zip ties and similar thicker plastic types of material.

Did they make Recons with partially serrated blades, maybe just the Tanto is all I can recall.

Recon XLs with 3 Recon 1 models. The spear point is an older Recon 1 with more texture on the grips and XHP steel. The clip point on the bottom was a limited run of 400 I believe from BladesCanada and stays in my “oh shit” backpack.

The XLs are enormous in person but amazingly, Lynn made them very easy to open and close with one hand and ZERO blade play. What a legend.

I’ve been resisting the Recon 1 XL for more than a month now. The price tag in Canada is insane, but I still really want it!

If we are talking about a 4" blade straight up tactical do-it-all rough and at the ready, I like a plain tanto. It's just a shape that holds up well, does a lot of things, and can be abused pretty and shrug it off.

I really like the clip point on the XL because with the 5.5" blade and stout Triad lock, it really feels more like a lightweight survival knife. Honestly, if you don't do anything stupid with it, the XL can do 90% of what you would want a survival knife to do, and with that wide clip point, you can really pinch up on the blade and do finer work. In that role, plain clip point.

...however as soon as they release the XL in tanto again, I'm grabbing one.

Clip point for me. No serrations. Ever lol

I had the tanto and sold it. I love the tip but the hollow grind isnt a favorite on this type of knife

Overall I feel like you can't go wrong with any of them really.

I like the clip point in that knife. Don't have one, but maybe one of these days. Seems when I was looking to buy one, the XHP Talwar convinced me that I had to have it instead, especially since I already had an XL clip point Voyager.

4" size Tanto for me!! I wish I bought the Tanto XL but I could only find the clip point at my local shops. Cold Steel PLEASE BRING BACK THE TANTO XL RECON FOLDER!!

To me, spear point is the most beautiful Recon 1 blade shape. I would buy whichever is cheaper, and if I had the misfortune of that being the "serrated" version, I'd simply regrind the serrations into something more useful and maintenance friendly.
