Recon 1 Genuine or not?

I purchased a new logo Cold Steel Recon 1 three or four months ago and used it for a bit and ended up selling it on ebay. I have a buyer who now wants to return it saying it is not legit so I need to ask, on the newer ones the logo is laser etched not painted correct? And the newer DLC coating is shiny, no longer matte? Everything about this knife makes me believe it is genuine, the way it locks up, the way the edge takes and holds an edge, even the copyright logo on the box was so tiny and printed crisp that it took me a large powered magnifier to see which was impressive. I sold it as is, no returns, so I wonder if this is the buyer just trying to get out of a purchase at my expense? I only have these pics to show since the knife is currently not in my hands. I obviously have used the knife so it does show wear and I did sand the scales because I didn't like the texture of them out of the box, but I also made that apparent in my listing.

where did you buy it....

The buyer has a good track record from what I can see, I did purchase it from Amazon but I have bought genuine cold steels in the past and this feels and locks up just like one. It was also directly through Amazon not a third party seller. I guess the main question is do these new ones have a shiny coated blade and is the logo laser etched? I know the magnacut ones have a more matte finish but but this is s35vn and I made that very apparent in my listing.

I don’t own any new cold steel so I can’t speak to the finish. If the buyer has a good long-standing feedback, then you may want to take his complaint seriously. People usually don’t ruin their reputations over $100.

As well as I don't want to ruin my reputation over that either, but what I find strange is he uses the terminology "paint" instead of coating and sounds like he may not know about changes cold steel has made over the last years. From what I can tell from YouTube videos all the new logo s35vn ones are shiny blades.

For what its worth, I've actually held a couple of fakes that were being sold at a knife shop (honest imitation and owner of the shop has a sign that said "imitation Cold Steel"). They definitely don't lock up like any real cold steel knife. Its very obvious.

Going back and forth with the buyer and looking at product videos of legitimate online retailers we have both concluded it is real. It doesn't make it easy since Cold steel makes revisions over the years but it is what it is.
