I am currently looking at getting one of these two knives. besides that I can get the reacon1 in a tanto blade is there any true difference between these two that stands out to anyone that may sway someone's purchase? Are there any differences in role these knives serve?

Here's something I posted in response to a similar question a few days ago:

I've owned both. I ended up selling the Recon but keeping the Lawman. Both are very well built, but the balance of the Recon 1 seems off -- specifically, too blade-heavy -- due to the combination of a large blade and linerless G-10 handles.* The Lawman is linerless, too, but the balance seems significantly better due to the shorter blade. I also strongly prefer the handle of the Lawman, which, unlike the Recon's, allows for both a choke-up (index finger in the finger choil) and regular grip. So my vote definitely goes to the Lawman.

*This applies to the newer Tri-Ad version of the Recon. The older Ultra Lock version did have liners and seemed much better balanced as a result.

Biggest differences to me are the Blade size and shapes, and handle designs. I like the recon 1 clip point style. One of my favorite beater knives. Id like the lawman more if it was a little bit longer, as I prefer its handle shape and feel to it. I don't notice the recons 1s balance being off like the last poster does. Things like that are very personal issues though. I only own the tri-ad version.

I am not a huge fan of the tanto recon though. So if its tanto recon vs. Lawman......I vote lawman.

I sure hope this is not bad form but I have a Recon 1 Tanto for sale. It is the older model with liners and one hand operation. Feel free to make offer and trades options are in the post.

(( rules violation ))
