The design's nice, but I feel like that wood and those scales are entirely wasted on that "heat colored" blade. Just looks sloppy to me...

Sloppy is not a word I would use to describe Lloyd's work. It's a little insulting.

You're entitled to your opinion, but a close look shows the silver and copper in the pins and the grey undertones of the wood are really drawn out by the colors in the heat coloring. I'll admit my first glance left me wondering what was wrong with the picture, but as I looked closer, the details really jumped out! I'm sure this is one that the photos don't really do justice!

my $.02 and you always get what you pay for...;)

thanks guys for the looking out
about 1 in 4-6 blades i heat treat in the upper level (only 2 of the steels i work with right now) have nice looking heat color on them and with this one i just could not let it pass
the thing was most of my 'mycarta" was too wild for the blade and it would have looked to busy over all. that is why i used a nice even colored purple heart. so far as the pins well i had the pin stock here so i thought i would dress it up and give it some points of interest in the handle.
everyone has there thoughts on what they like and don't like i post on the gallery and in shop talk also for that. may i ask you do the same
thank you

Very classy response, a good example to other knifemakers of how to handle critics on the forums, we've all seen some of the threads here on BF get out of control from time to time.

I hope you can make another similar one when I am ready to buy. I really like the look of that knife.

Critic feedback is great in other places, I would never put it in a for sale forum, and mess with some one's sale.
