Recurve infi???

Curious for those that do not like recurves as to why?

Is it a look thing?
A performance/use thing?
A sharpening thing?

Please share what it is and why you don't care for them. :)

Well, Foo... I hate your recurves... But really, there's a very good explanation as to why... And that's because they're not mine!!! ;) :D

Damn, that's SWEET!!

I'm kinda 50/50 on them, one a large knife I'm ok with it, but I actively dislike them on folders and small to mid sized fixed blades. they get to be a pain to sharpen correctly

My favourite mid-size knife is a re-curve...

No problem sharpening on a 1x30 belt sander.... you can use a Sharpmaker or a Lansky just as well .... only difficulty is when using a wide flat stone but if you angle it at the corner for a smaller section of stone it then works fine....

Sharpening is simply something to persevere at...an essential skill if you use knives and should'nt prevent owning different types...

The recurve looks like the steel is missing where there should be steel or, a bad sharpening job or an old knife. But if one likes the recurve, that's coo.

I have always loved recurve blades. Maybe it is the "intimidation" factor of the wicked looking blade. Or is it the "more bang for the buck" with having more edge to blade length (kinda like parabolic snow skis). Anyway, some pics of my Killer Z....

This coming from the guy who loves chisel grinds, that look like the knife maker quit halfway through and never finished the knife :rolleyes::rolleyes:

;)

I do like them. I had no problem sharpening the SS, so I think I could manage a recurve.

Nice pix Peter and Gator.
Hey Mustard--- go make a sandwich... with mayonaise.:yawn::D

I convex sharpen recurves like khukris on the curved part of an anvil, covered with leather. Works great!
