Hey guys im gonna be buying a recurve blade and need a field sharpener for it. I need a medium and fine grit sharpener and a ceramic if possible.im probably gonna be getting the eze lap diamond rod for a medium grit.if it helps im getting a schf42

A diamond rod (med grit) and a fine ceramic rod should be great. A round file is good for edge repair from heavy damage and a leather belt strop with green compound for an even finer edge.

I have a SCHF26 and I put a smiths pocket pal 2x in the pouch. The diamond rod works perfect. It will bring that 1095 back quick. I also bring a couple strips of 320 sand paper. Scrape the bark off a nice rounded log or branch and lay the paper on it and it will strop the blade wicked sharp very quick. Makes touch ups fast with a recurve blade. I find doing it that way the recurve touches up in the field easier than straight blades will.

The EZE Lap diamond rod is probably*my #1 go-to for recurve and karambits. I also use ceramic rods but the EZE is best for the field. I strop them by finding a way to curve a piece of leather, usually holding a strop leather tight over a small paint brush or screwdriver handle to curve it, and it's done.

How's the Schrade 1095 these days? It may make a difference in sharpening. I know the old stuff was superb.
