I just lost the entire post I typed up on my phone due to a browser bug, so I'm going to keep this one short. I have been intrigued with hybrid grinds for a while now, particularly on tantos, and have been wanting to try one out. I'm not normally a big fan of tantos, and wanted to spice this one up a bit. This is the result. I'm very happy with it.

I spent a lot of time fine tuning the blade, to get maximum benefit from the grind type. It is a thin slicer, but has a tip strong enough for utility use. This is an incredibly versatile setup. Well balanced, and very lightweight for the blade size.

The Redwood is from the recent batch of Old Growth Burl that Burl Source had posted. It is some of the best I've seen. The lace pattern is so finely branched that it looks like a fractal in the sunlight.

Specs:
4.25" edge length, 9.7" OAL, 4.7oz.
CTS-XHP @ 60, .155" thick
hollow/flat hybrid grind, slightly convex bevel stropped to shaving sharp
Premium Old Growth Redwood Burl, K&G Stabilized
White G10 Liner, 416ss guard

$215 shipped, incudes buyers choice of made to order custom sheath. Paypal preferred but will accept other payment methods.

I really like this one man. Been waiting to see what you were going to post all morning! Very nice grind, I'm starting to like Tantos more lately as well.

You killed that Ian. Love the "fine tuning" you did on that blade. I am not fond of tantos these days but the mods you made to this one make it very appealing.

Thanks guys, really love this one.

To the prospective buyer: Just the block of wood alone for this knife was $55. When i said premium redwood, i wasnt kidding. This one is super clean.

I try my best to stand firm on price, but this may be more than the slower market will bear for a 4.25" blade, I'll do $200 shipped with sheath for the rest of the weekend, if it doesnt go this may be the first one i put away towards a future show table. Havent been able to keep enough on hand yet, and i have too much tied up in this one to let it go cheap. I probably shouldn't even have used that expensive of a block on this piece.

Those last pictures really showed the handle off better. I like it even more with those last few.

This is definitely a cool model, I will buy a future one in a few months if you end up making another, so don't count it out!

I ended up with this one, it's a crazy little blade, and the handle design is great. It's super light too. I'm very happy with this one, thanks for keeping me in the loop Ian,
