Here's a high end belt knife, a bit different from my norm but, hey..... that's me.

This belt knife is forged from high carbon "whirlwind" pattern mosaic damascus with a file worked thumb rest and exposed pommel/lanyard. The scales on this full-tang knife are red-apple coral with black tang liners and stainless steel handle bolts. This piece is 7" overall with a 3" cutting edge
and comes with a tooled leather pouch sheath.
Price, with leather sheath: $500.00, plus shipping.

Visa, MasterCard and Paypal are all accepted (Paypal only for international sales please) and your satisfaction is always guaranteed.

Looking at that is sure a great way to start the day. I'm trying to keep from buying any more fixed blades for a while, but that one sure is tempting.

Kathy really liked that one, J. But she couldn't imagine spending that much money on a knife for herself. She'll come around eventually, though. ;) She also liked your BUKs, but didn't care for the handle material on the one at the show.

It was great to finally meet you, btw. We wish you luck, and you'll be hearing from us. :)

J., i am not familiar with coral as a handle material and wonder:
1) weight ? and how is overall balance cf. wood or bone ?
2) slippery when wet ?
3) durability if say dropped and handle lands on a rock ?
thanks, your fan & looking for my 2nd J. Neilson knife, roland

This was my first time using coral as well and it worked much nicer than expected (I purchased this set of scales a couple of years ago but, as I make mostly hidden tang knives.... :D ). The weight seemed no heavier than stag which with the open pommel balanced the knife out very nicely for a smaller belt knife. The coral was no more slippery than a micarta handle or such similar material. I wouldn't go dropping this material on a rock or concrete floor (again, the open pommel helps there). I expected much more in the way of chipping/fracturing but, was very surprised how well it worked. I think it will be a fairly durable material but, again I wouldn't go beating the tar out of it.
J.
