Good job Howard, I'm sure your friend will cherish that knife for many years to come. I especially like that it hangs from a braided thong. Absolutely all of the period style knives I make are given "swinger" sheaths that hang from a thong. It's, IMHO, the most comfortable way to wear a belt knife. No digging in or getting in the way, you can almost forget it's there until it comes time to cut something.
Sarge, it is obvious you speak from experience. I thought the dangler sheaths were kind of ugly, until I wore one. The belt knife I carry most frequently, my WASP, uses this style. (see http://www.tx3.net/~howardw/knives/WASP.htm ) The Saami people of northern Europe also use the dangler a lot, and they are a people who use their knives frequently.
Dave, If you want to get the sheath from Red Flower I suggest approaching her wearing kevlar underwear.
