Hi all, I am checking out a Olight M20 Crimson, single mode clicky/105 lumen light. I wanted to test it out against my Petzl Tikka Plus with the "red" flip down filter. I am surprised by how bright this thing is at only 100 lumens, it's almost irritating to the eyes when the red light is reflected back off white surfaces like interior walls. I'm now thinking these are better for outside use on the trail rather than as a general illumination tool. Anybody else use these lights?. Thanks.

I don't use one very often, but I do use a dimmer incandescent one when I want/need to retain my night vision. Comes in handy while camping. :)

I'm starting to adjust to it better in testing tonight, It's good at illuminating critters outback. They have a new model the M21S that I think would be better because it has a U/I to step down the lumens to 23 and 3 lumens, 100 is just a bit much for this.

While not flashlights, I do use 2 red led headlamps (H501r and H51Fr) from ZebraLight as taillights when bike riding.

Sounds like a red filter on one of the infinitely variable rheostat-controlled LED lights might be the ticket. I carry a Sunwayman V10r Ti+, 5-210 lumens variable. Jetbeam also has a lot of models that adjust from below .5 lumens to 500 and above with a control ring. Fun stuff, and it's nice to have just the right amount of light for a given task.

Only complaint I have so far is expecting 5 lumens in the middle of the night when I click it on, and getting blasted with 210 because I forgot to dial it back to low...
